I've read literally everything Tolkien has written...
I saw the first two Hobbit movies...They had plenty of license taken...really didn't mind it as I'm not one of the "book purist" who gets their panties in a wad...
What I don't like is Jackson pretty much is inventing an extra storyline...with added characters and such...
There was plenty of "book" to make two good movies...
He just added a bunch of stuff to make a third movie simply for profit...

Personally, I can’t stand it when they invent new characters that didn’t exist, like Tauriel, then invent a crazy love triangle in which the made up character is involved.......
