Pippin’s song.

Not very impressed with the trailer. However, thanks for posting it. I’ve been wondering when we’d see it.

I remember eagerly awaiting the LOTR’s but I haven’t seen any Hobbit films yet.

The trailer makes this one look a lot like the original LOTR

I’ll wait until it’s on cable. I saw the other two, and they were alright, but I think Jackson made a mistake trying to keep too much of the same mood from LOTR. This story should be much lighter and more whimsical, not menacing and foreboding.

They really should have made the Hobbit first, so you could see the progression from a more carefree Middle Earth to the War of the Ring. By doing it backwards, Jackson painted himself into a corner.

I see your point, but even Tolkien re-wrote The Hobbit to fall in line with the Lord of the Rings.

Looks great, but the most important thing is the STORY.

Other than the amazing Smaug I thought the last one was just one huge CGI orgy.

I’ll see this one, but, eh….I’m on my guard.

Sure, and I see why Jackson had to do it too. The average Joe would have been disappointed if this weren’t a clone of LOTR, because that’s all they know to expect.

I just wish he would have done the Hobbit first, probably as a single film, and then continued with the rest.

My view is that if they had attempted to show the Hobbit first there would not have been the opportunity to run it as a three-part series, and even if they had run it as one movie there would not have been the draw to it that LOTR had. In a perfect world, however, the Hobbit should have run first - but where profits are concerned, there can be no perfect world.

The last best Smaug had the voice of Richard Boone.

The movie is like the book. Please. Not exactly. Most movies that are made from books are not exactly like the book.

License is taken. It is called movie making.

I've read literally everything Tolkien has written...

I saw the first two Hobbit movies...They had plenty of license taken...really didn't mind it as I'm not one of the "book purist" who gets their panties in a wad...

What I don't like is Jackson pretty much is inventing an extra storyline...with added characters and such...

There was plenty of "book" to make two good movies...

He just added a bunch of stuff to make a third movie simply for profit...

God bless America...

“but where profits are concerned, there can be no perfect world”

Yeah I guess that about sums it up. I can still dream though!
