Which TV series should have gone on?

Posted on 07/19/2014 8:28:11 PM PDT by MNDude

Most TV series "jump the shark" or get bad long before they end. But there's always a few that you wish that went on at least another season. Which TV series or program(s) do you wish hadn't ended when it did but continued on at least another year?

You’re thinking about ‘Crime Story’ with Dennis Farina.

I loved them all.

EVERY show always has good, better and best shows.
EVERY show always has a few yawners too. That is just the nature of the beast. CORNY is part of Hollyweird too. Always has been.

I liked the entire concept of the show, the characters, bad guys, aliens and beasties.

There is REALLY only so much story telling that exists in the human experience. It's almost always: love story, love triangles, good-bad guys, good triumphs over evil, struggles overcome. There aren't too many "new" themes to the human experience.

Also, one can only run through the seven deadly sins so many times.

By the time you get to my old age, I REALLY have heard and seen the same ole themes many times. I plan to see them a whole lot more, but human nature's good, bad and ugly doesn't have much new to offer me...just variations on the same theme.

That looks quirky - I’ll have to see if I can find it on Netflix.

Right now I’m watching Property Brothers on HGTV. :-)))

Space, Above and Beyond

I loved R. Lee Emery as the drill instructor in the first or second episode.

"In space no one can hear you scream, unless it is the battle cry of the United States Marines."

I kind of liked the show and would have liked to see where it was going in the next season. It suffered from the usual problem of TV shows in which people don't specialize enough because they want to keep the cast small. If they are pilots, why are they serving as infantry in some episodes?

“The Corner” got me hooked on Simon.

I didn’t start HLOTS until 2 years in——but caught up.

Caprica. Lots of teen angst but the Cylon backstory was just getting interesting, especially in the trailer they shot for season 2.

“My World and Welcome to It” based on James Thurber’s writings and illustrations. William Windom starred as the main character, a cartoonist. It only aired one season (1969-70), but I was a young child and my grandfather subscribed to the the New Yorker so I loved the art and the opening sequence. The storyline was good too as I recall.

One show I never see mentioned is Justice. On its surface it was a typical defense attorney show, but with the twist at the end of the program they showed what really happened. Sometimes the defendant was guilty as sin and the attorneys had tricked the jury into letting him off as opposed the usual cliche of everyone on that type of show being falsely accused. It was an interesting twist, but it only lasted 13 episodes.

Don't mess with Mal. He was one tough customer.

The only person that ever messed with Mal and got away with it was young River Tam.

You REALLY didn't want to mess with her. The stormtroopers at the end of the move Serenity got to live through sheer luck of the timing.

That. However, Police Story just got weird when they moved the show from Chicago to Las Vegas.

Loved Twin Peaks but they blew it big time in the last season with the weird dwarf stuff and crazy plot lines. They lost their way.

I refuse to use that “shark” term. Way over used.
