Which TV series should have gone on?

Posted on 07/19/2014 8:28:11 PM PDT by MNDude

Most TV series "jump the shark" or get bad long before they end. But there's always a few that you wish that went on at least another season. Which TV series or program(s) do you wish hadn't ended when it did but continued on at least another year?

“I always WONDER why any male or female would CHOOSE homosexuality or bisexuality. Yuck.”

I have to comment on your statement. You’re very adamant in your assertion that homosexuality is a choice. This is something I can’t wrap my mind around. I’m a conservative Christian who is against gay marriage so please don’t mistake my premise. But I have known gay people in my youth, 2 friends that ended up being gay later, and I know for a fact, looking back now, and from what they’ve shared with me at a later point, that they were hard-wired that way. They are just as adamant that they would never have “chosen” it as you are that they did. But I think an actual gay person knows themselves and their feelings a bit more than you or I do so I take their word over yours or anyone else who thinks that an instinctual attraction to something is a conscious choice. If a woman, can you actually say that the first time you found yourself crushing on that cute boy in 6th grade was a choice of yours? Or did it just happen naturally...where all of a sudden your glance fell on him and you felt a little surge of interest? You didn’t consciously create that surge. Hormones you had no control over did.

Your statement is something I have a hard time wrapping my mind around. As a conservative Christian, are you saying God created gays to send them straight to eternal damnation? Are you saying there is no hope for them at all? I disagree. I understand that an argument can be made that because they have been given over to reprobate minds, their brains don’t function well enough for them to make good decisions, but I still disagree that they cannot choose to do what is right. Every human being capable of thought can choose whether to act on sinful thoughts or not. It does not matter whether they are “hard-wired that way” or not. Just as we all have the ability to refuse to act on sin, they do not have to act on their contrarian, anti-God, “instinctual attraction.” So yes, choosing to be a homosexual is a choice.

Call to Glory. Mid 80’s drama about a USAF colonel and his family in the early 60’s. Starred Craig T. Nelson.

Definitely. I feel certain the series was originally meant to cover more of the 60s then 62-63.

Yes, I am saying they were made, or “wired” that way and YES I am a conservative christian. I can’t believe why it would be so hard for someone to understand. You don’t think God would create a being that is hard-wired to want to have sexual relations with their own sex but you would admit that God does “make” people who are hard-wired to commit any multitude of other sins wouldn’t you? I don’t know how this is unclear. We are sinful. In the Bible we are all called filthy rags. Wretched. There is none without sin, no not one. And so on. Did God create people with deformities? Psychopaths? Autism? Hermaphrodites? What about the kids who get Leukemia and die? This life is full of struggles, heartbreak, and sin. DO you think God created it all? I can ask you that same question about any abnormality or mindset that anyone might be born with so why would you think that, if God can allow people to be born with faulty genes, propensity for certain sins and not others, and abnormalities of all kinds, why would you think that the organic homosexual brain is the one thing which God would not allow to happen? Is it somehow different???

Homosexuality or bisexuality IS a choice. Look it up ANYWHERE. ANYWHERE.
There has been TONS of research on it BECAUSE of the “gay liberation” and all the stuff that went with it.
It’s a choice...not a good one, but a choice nonetheless.

SORRY.

Also, we have no control over the presence and activation of hormones but we SURE have control over our actions. If not, then we are merely animals.

We are taught right from wrong from the get-go but our conscience doesn’t develop until we reach the “age of reason” at ABOUT six or seven years of age.

We DO have control over our actions and responses...that is what makes us SO human: choice.

What a way to change the subject. You said they had no choice. I said they had a choice. Human beings are born with the ability to choose whether to believe God or act on their sinful “feelings.” But you refuse to recognize that having a feeling does not make you a homosexual. Turning your back on God to act on homosexual feelings makes you a homosexual.

As I said before, it does not matter whether you think you are hard-wired to act a certain way or not. You can still choose not to act that way. And if you are so far gone that you are sure you can’t choose any other way, seeking the Lord who is there to provide a way through the temptation can help you through. No sinners’ feelings are greater than God’s Word!

Using false examples does not help your case at all. Having a deformity is not a sin. Having autism and Leukemia is not a sin. Just like being black is not a sin. Having instinctual attractions is not a sin. Acting on sinful instinctual attractions is a sin which is why being a homosexual is sinful and completely against God.

I once heard it explained this way. You can’t keep a bird from flying around your head, but you don’t have to let it land and build its nest. Homosexuals have chosen to act against God. Not only have they chosen to let that bird land and build a nest, they parade around with the nest on their head, full of pride, like wearing a brand new Easter bonnet.

People can be born with various defects. But, the Bible says homosexuals have been given over to reprobate minds. It does not say they were born with reprobate minds. They have a choice. Follow God and His Word or follow the sinful “instinctual attraction.” It is the same choice every sinner has. We agree that sinners can choose. But for some reason you refuse to believe homosexual sinners have that choice.

As for being sinful people forgiven by God, we who have been born again into the body of Christ know that sin is wrong. Those who self identify as homosexuals, willfully choose to sin, glorify that sin and glorify those who commit those sinful acts. They have chosen a different path, a path away from God. Those who choose to do whatever they please have made their choice. It is most definitely a decision on their part.

Yancy Derringer - canceled because the producers wouldn’t give in to network demands to move the production.

T.H.E. Cat

Legend, although its cancelation did free up Richard Dean Anderson to do Stargate SG-1

Blue Light

And, of course, The Green Hornet
