California Approves Fines for Wasting Water During Drought

Cities throughout California will have to impose mandatory restrictions on outdoor watering under an emergency state rule approved Tuesday.

Saying that it was time to increase conservation in the midst of one of the worst droughts in decades, the State Water Resources Control Board adopted drought regulations that give local agencies the authority to fine those who waste water up to $500 a day.

Many Southern California cities, including Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Long Beach, already have mandatory restrictions in place.

But most communities across the state are still relying on voluntary conservation, and Californians in general have fallen far short of meeting Gov. Jerry Brown’s January call for a 20% cut in water use.

What’ll happen is an HOA will fine you for having a dead lawn and the county will fine you for watering it.

who was Gubinor in the last great drought?

If its brown flush it down

Who’s now Gubinor again?

See a pattern?

How many storage facilities did he build back then?

How many this go around?

California suffers from worse than a drought in rain..

It suffers from near sighted pretenders and voters

As doped out as they were back in the 70s

Reading the new “law”, the main offenders of water waste, GOLF COURSES, will only be restricted to nighttime watering, which happens already in most cases.

How convenient.

Is government exempt?

Are government schools exempt?

It's CA. They'll probably start fining people with more than two bottled waters
in their possession.

They’ll probably check your water meter from the last time to see the difference. Long time ago in Santa Barbara, CA they introduced water rationing and people would put a brick in their toilet tank and other saving devices. Well water consumption did go down as well as the revenue. So SB increased the rates.

Instead of trying to get an effin bullet train built...maybe these jackasses need to figure out how to make ocean water fresh and pipe it throughout California.

When it starts raining again, it’s a safe bet that no matter how hard it rains, the bureaucrats will say that the rain is not relieving the drought and will try to maintain the restrictions. That has happened at the end of every drought in California since the 1970’s.

I suppose that it would be ridiculous of me to assume that part of the reason for the water shortage is the addition of 20 million illegals to their population. They may not bathe or wash their clothes regularly but I would suspect that they, on occasion, do flush the toilet.

$100 billion on that damn useless choo-choo would have built a LOT of dams and canals. The state has tripled population in 60 years, but hardly any new water infrastructure has been built. That’s what happens when you let the environazis take over.

I saw a funny juxtaposition of two stories on the nightly news in Los Angeles the other night.

The first story was about the states turning off drinking water and closing restroom is state parks to save water.

The next was the opening of a massive new multi-million dollar swimming pools (10) complex in intercity LA

This winter in northern California it was way below normal. The local news was lamenting the fact that Ruth Lake, the reservoir for Eureka/ Arcata was only 1/2 full. We had a late storm system come thru and it dumped quit a bit of rain. Afterwards the local news said this made no difference in the drought conditions. Two days later they said Ruth Lake was full.
