Report: Food Prices Skyrocket: “We’re Going to Have a Major Problem Coming Into the Fall”
SHTF Plan ^ | 5/14/14 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 05/14/2014 4:32:58 PM PDT by Kartographer

The Producer Price Index made available by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics this morning has now confirmed those fears. Consumers are seeing an immediate impact to their wallets in the form of food price inflation and in all likelihood the trend will continue going forward.

These latest numbers are serious. So much so that according to Zero Hedge, “the last time food prices spiked by this much in one month, the resulting Arab Spring wave of revolutions tumbled governments across north Africa and the middle east.”

$9.99 a Lb.

sounds like a sale price. Two packaged Ribeyes maybe one Lb. and a quarter ... total was nearly $18.00 in this neck of the woods tonight.

My dad used to buy the big box called “Bacon Ends”, the leftover pieces from cutting the bacon.

More expensive, yes. They’re a treat at our house. But hubby and I both agree that they taste like meat USED to taste when were kids.

Blame those purists who stayed home on election day 2012 thinking Obama would be no worse than Romney. Sadly we are all living with the consequences of King Barack’s agenda od wealth re-distribution.

“It’ll get much worse as the effects of the California water situation are made clear to shoppers by August”

Heard today that there is concern about getting fertilizer to the midwest via rail because of the bottleneck in the rail system. The oil boom is going to starve us because of government regulation.

This is not hyperinflation; not by a long shot.

In hyperinflation, people with money lose confidence in it and are desperate to trade it for something useful.

Using the Weimar hyperinflation as an example (though it wasn’t the most severe example), if gasoline cost $3 per gallon this month, next month it would be $30 per gallon, the month after that $300 per gallon and so on.

Not to say that what we are seeing is not bad.

Ha!!
Agreed!

With beef, you get salad-—automatically.

Eat the cows...they’ve already eaten the “greens” FOR you!!!

(I know, I know-—he was talkin’ about beans...)

Bought any milk lately? Half a gallon costs more now than a gallon cost just a few months ago.

“Beef is getting priced out of my picture.”

Beef etc are up for several reasons, not the least of which is the use of food for fuel...corn to ethanol. This should have been stopped from the git-go. It is totally fuelish, and inefficient.

Just wait till folks see the prices for Tomatoes (and tomato products like sauce, catchup etc.), nuts, Peaches, Olives and oil.

The this coming winter, all citrus...and it'll be dry.

Green beans (all beans). Cotton.

HOPS!!!!
