Or you shouldn't be able to.
Harry Crotch, the president of the National Coalition for Men should be ashamed to call himself a man. Bet he shops a Love Pink.
This is a private enterprise. They can serve whomever they choose.
I doubt there are any men that “want” to be in this women only self defense class. There are lots of self defense class opportunities that are co-ed. Instead, I would be willing to bet, “the men” behind this are against guns and are a liberal bunch. Either that or they are perverts and predators. But maybe I repeat myself.
(I know very little about the issue. My opinion is conjecture only.)
I’m teaching a class called FFOFF
It’s just for men
So far no one wants to sue me. ...hurray I guess!
FFOFF is an acronym for Fitness For Old Fat F’ers
So far no women have tried to join
I’m against any discrimination, but let’s be realistic. Statistically, women are smaller and have less upper body strength than most men, statistically.
Also, women are the victims of rape, and men are the agressors. It’s a fact. So let them have their women-only class. I would want my female family members to go to it.
This “National Coalition for Men” needs a class on “How To Defend Your Nation’s Women”, and then these women wouldn’t need their class, and the whole problem would go away.
(Come to think of it, there are plenty of “men” even here on FR who could use such a class. They’re an embarassment and a shame on men.)
I taught martial arts for fifteen years until my knee went to hell. I usually taught a mixed class of men and women. Male students would invariably “go easy” on a female because the males were raised properly and most guys don’t like the idea of hurting a woman even in the interests of training. Men working with men were harder on each other. Women working with women were harder on each other too. The hard fact is, one learns more by training harder.
I predict that women training in an all female class will learn more and master techniques faster. That’s the point of these classes. Whether there’s a legal point to be made about the discrimination here is something that could be addressed by offering similar classes for men, IMHO.
