A video uploaded by a Phoebe Landolt shows a riot cop assaulting a girl standing on the street. Police had been called in to quell a student riot in Arizona after the Wildcats lost their game to Wisconsin.
The girl in the video did not appear to be rioting or causing a scene, but the officer can be clearly viewed charging her and knocking her over for apparently no reason.
Really, in a riot like that, reasonable people especially vulnerable females, ought to be somewhere safe.
Its pretty easy to see what happens. The cops levels the young girl. Completely levels her in a way that risks severe injury or death.
The video does not show why.
Most people think this is inappropriate and probably criminal despite your excuses and effort to distract.
Cops are NOT your friends when they choose to interact with YOU.

I watch surveillance video all night at my job.
The cop crouches, braces, and levels her.
She’s walking, texting, and not paying attention.
Weird...but I have always been courteous with them and have received courtesy in return.

The whole Saturday night kerfuffle seems to have been that the cops were all geared up and ready to go, and when their expected riot didn’t appear they decided to pretend it was anyway. There aren’t any reports of any citizens actually doing anything, and yet cops used teargas and arrested nearly a dozen people. Amped up cops being amped up.
However she was roughed up by someone, who in ‘theory’, was supposed to keep her safe. Ya know, ‘peace officer’ vs rioter......
I went the 1981 Rose Bowl game and on News Years Eve we decided to go to Colorado Blvd to see the parade route and all of the people. There was a huge crowd on the sidewalk and I just step off the curb onto the street to walk around them and suddenly found myself going ass over tea kettle. When I got up there was a policeman standing there telling me not to step over the painted line in the street again or I would go to jail. I tried a brief explanation but quickly realized that the best course of action was to keep my mouth shut and do as I was told or I was going to end up in county lock up for the night and miss the game the next day...
The excuse that cops deal with the worst is just an excuse. Yes they deal with bad people. Many times the same people you stand behind in the Walmart checkout.
They also deal with good people, like you and perhaps the person behind you in Walmart.
They dealth with the same kind of people back when I was growing up and they didn’t feel a need to beat harmless young women or shoot every other dog they met.
Yep, it’s best to minimize contact/friction and if there is an issue, sort it out in Court later.
I don't think it is anti-cop. I am against the mindset and tactics they employ. They are supposed to be trained professionals. When they act like trained attack dogs I object.
The cop runs away as soon as they tell them its on video. Probably a clue.

This though is an area my wife and I are polar opposites on, as she has had issues with cops.
Sometimes the cops bring it on themselves. TPD wanted a confrontation saturday night, they lined the streets where the college bars are, shoulder to shoulder in riot gear. Started pushing people around, telling people they couldn’t go in certain directions, even though those directions lead to parking garages, frat houses and dormitories, wouldn’t even let people go back in the bars so they could just wait out the situation. They demanded confrontation, and they got what they wanted.
You have NO IDEA what life is like beyond your little world of WHINING about American cops. SEE OTHER COUNTRIES' cops and tell me the same thing.

I have 8 neighbors who are cops. I’ve always tried to be courteous to them just like anyone else.
7 of them won’t even acknowledge a hello or a wave as you walk by their house.
The one that will say hi to me assumed the response to my house for a robbery was an felony warrant being served. The cops assume the worst of us as we are told repeatedly.

Well actually I have lived overseas and know the real world.
Which is why I DETEST it when I see our cops doing the same things I saw there.

No, statistically I am more likely to be right. Just as you or I are more likely to be accidentally shot by a cop then by an average person.
Some are county sheriffs, some are Tampa Police, and one is a University cop.
