Marijuana can be deadly, according to German researchers who claim to have discovered the first deaths caused by cannabis.
The researchers in Düsseldorf, North-Rhine Westphalia, have been investigating cannabis-related deaths since 2001 and performed post-mortem examinations on 15 people whose deaths were linked to the drug. [ ]
Benno Hartung from the University Hospital in Düsseldorf said he and his colleagues performed autopsies and toxicological tests to rule out other causes of death such as liver disease and alcohol use.

You mean that Cheech and Chong lied?
Wow, this has been a really good news day.
It will also cause lung cancer eventually. But that’s not the Govt’s problem. A compliant/high populace can be rolled over. THAT is what’s important.
Soma.
Correlation does not eqaul Causation
It can cause uncontrollable nausea and vomiting, hallucinations, lung cancer and other respiratory illnesses associated with cigarette smoke, and makes you do stupid things like wreck your car. Gone are the days when the majority of pot smokers look like hippies sitting around on ripped couches covered in psychedelic afghans. Most pot-smokers today look like either regular, every day people or like thugs. Most of the hippie smokers grew up and grew out of it.
Technically, “Killer Weed” isn’t Marijuana.
It is PCP.
Correct, hence their design of the study to eliminate other causes.
Technically, Killer Weed is parsley sprinkled with PCP;-{)
yep.
That stuff is really really bad.
Fifteen people since 2001? Good grief, the rarest of disorders have killed more. In that period of time in Germany, 20,000 people have died due to complications from diarrheal disease - over 5,000 have been killed by tuberculosis...
Meanwhile liberal states rush to get “medical” marijuana into their people. Guess they figure that the more people have messed up minds, the more will vote democrat.
I have not read the study, just the attached article.
Pretty sparse on details about what was excluded to determine causation.
In 13 years of studies, they have found 15 people to study and 2 they believe they know that pot caused the death.
If this study had come back with the opposite conclusion, would you have bought it?
Don’t expect High Times magazine to give kudos to this report.
Gotta wonder about any researcher who claims to know what all the other possibilities are in the first place, much less having proved it wasn't any of them.
So can alcohol or any other drug. Government should not be in the business of criminalizing poor personal choices or bad habits because that is the road to tyranny.
