A plan by the Federal Communications Commission to study how news organizations select stories has prompted about 10,000 people to sign a petition saying no government monitors in newsrooms.
Thats according to the American Center for Law and Justice, which announced the petition Wednesday and said it reached that number within the first two hours.
The agency announced a Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs last year, explaining that it wanted to understand the process of which stories are selected, station priorities, content production, populations served, perceived station bias, and perceived percent of news dedicated to each of the critical information needs (CINs) in a community, Fox News reported.
Obama Administrations Plan to Study Newsrooms Is Drawing Plenty of Public Opposition
In the light of the setting sun President Barack Obama speaks about drought while on a farm in Los Banos, Calif., Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. But Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the ACLJ, a conservative legal group, worries it could be used to intimidate certain news organizations into covering issues that government officials feel are important.

HE HAS NEVER BEEN A PRESIDENT ANDSUREASEFF AINT MINE
The DemocRATS aren’t so cool. The Nazis did this too. All police states do it.
I hope you're a young man.
This is an old leftist plan to instill censorship on the news media (esp. print and radio talk shows), that has been ressurected by the Obamie commies. It seems to be part of the marxist created “Net Neutrality” control mechanism of conservative media forums.
The “Critical Needs in a Community” is a code for “you must cover the black and Hispanic neighbors/news “whether you want to or not. It is an old news-monitoring technique the Left created to cut into the news that a paper/radio show or even a tv show wants to present. It will be “either you cover these topics or else the FCC will take away your broadcast license”.
Where I come from, this is just another form of government censorship and a totalitarian, Gestapo-like tactic. But then again, that’s Obama and Holder summed up in one sentence.
“Easy, citizen, I don’t want to spy on you, I just want to study you a little. Here, let me go through your pockets. If you’ve done nothing wrong you’ve nothing to fear.”
Or to not cover issues those officials do not "feel" are important enough.
WTF.....I can not wait until the day when I wake up and O-numbnuts is no longer my President.
He will be called Supreme Leader that day
......to ensure that the great leader and his schemes are portrayed only in the very best light yes.....
studying news organizations select stories ....not so much
Not so sure he will let them take it from him in January 2017. He is more (self) important than you, me or the constitution.
the fairness doctrine was an abject failure
this is to ensure there will be no such failures.... in the future
the long arm of the lawless...reaching out to stay in TOUCH with the community
Its easy to know how they select stories
Embarrasses democrats: bury
Embarrasses republicans: 24/7 for 6 to 8 months
And Ukrainian style riots will be coming to your town soon. Don’t be caught without a Molotov Cocktail launcher.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if the second shot heard around the world was fired in a news room at a FCC regulator? (After blindly supporting the pResident.) I am being serious about a shot being fired. This is purely a soviet style tactic and deserves to be met with force. America is on the verge of making the protesters in the Ukraine look like amateurs.
great minds ...
That will depend upon whether he decides he likes the White House enough in January 2017 to decide he’s not moving.
After all, that’s just a violation of the Constitution... not like it hasn’t happened before.
Its all part of the plan. Suggest this ridiculous plan then, when the masses object keep the LSM doing its bidding same as before.
Probably endorsed by SPJ...
