Catholics 'divided on issues such as divorce and birth control'

Catholics are divided on issues such as divorce and birth control amid widespread resentment at Church teachings among believers, two separate surveys have revealed.

In a rare bid for openness, the Vatican sent out a survey to parishes around the world in November, ahead of a synod due to discuss the family this October.

Results from several countries have now been released, showing that, in Switzerland, 90 per cent of respondents demanded the Church lifts its refusal to give communion to divorcees who remarry.

Results are also in from Germany, where bishops said the survey showed that Catholics view the communion ban for divorcees as "unjustified discrimination and ... merciless". German respondents also rejected Church bans on premarital and gay sex and birth control.

Church-backed news service SIR reported that Swiss respondents were in "dramatic disagreement" with the Church's ban on contraception, while the Catholic Church in Luxembourg warned results from the survey were "alarming" and showed the importance given to church teaching was in "free fall".

I get my faith in the truth from GOD and HIS word as it appears in the Bible...

Then you are evangelical in this rather than Catholic.

Like I said earlier in another response in this thread... I am incapable of speaking for the Catholic Church but any Christian that thinks that modern societal norms as professed by the media and pop culture, will change the LAWS OF GOD because they fit with their vision of what life should be... are going against GOD’s word.

That is 100% correct. However, Rome is a law unto itself, as the supreme autocratic authority on truth, thus how she defines herself by her actions from generation to generation is what RCs are to follow, whether torturing Bible believers or counting evangelicals as separated brethren.

There you go again.

Do you really believe that manufacturing straw men makes you look intelligent?

Just goes to prove that the dumbest people always think they're smarter than everybody else.

Any "Catholic" who doesn't believe Church doctrine is not actually Catholic.

And good for them - they are one step out of bondage that is catholicism. So make sure the 'catholic control freaks' drop their mantra of..... 'once a catholic always a catholic'. You guys really need to get your '%*(^' together..... for catholicism makes their sheep speak with fork tongue as their master/the father of lies/liars - does.

There is nothing controversial about that statement, except in the minds of superior-types who know it all.

The ones of superiority to catholics are popes because they are ill taught they are/were infallible. But even a priest is superior to the sheep as the sheep seek forgiveness of their sins from them. Catholics are one crazy misled bunch and they enjoy it and defend it!! They believe 'man' over GOD and they dare speak of controversial? LOL!! Now what really could go wrong for catholics as they embrace deceptive teaching from 'men'...let me count the ways.

You really love those straw men, don’t you?

How much do you dislike TRUTH? Embracing deceptive teaching shows disdain for IT.

All I said was the truth that a "Catholic" who does not accept Catholic doctrine is not a Catholic, and you went mental.

Your psychological fragility is not my problem.

Wrong, the TRUTH sent you in a fury.....'once a catholic always a catholic'.... doesn't sit well with you, I see? LOL!! Well other catholics believe THAT to be true. Seems catholics even disagree on 'man made teachings' - you might have to call together some infallible council and settle your little squabble. You know, those 'superior' thinking 'men'.

Deceptive teachings pushes their pawns to start name calling and change the subject for THEY have NO TRUTH to stand on! Catholicism s**ks and always brings out the worst of their pawns when they are presented with TRUTH.

Anybody who feels compelled to use capital letters all the time is mental. I can just imagine the layers of spittle on your monitor.

Taking that section of that verse out of context, which has been pointed out to you numerous times, is not validation for the RCC’s claim of absolute authority over believers.

It is not Jesus giving absolute authority to a church hierarchy. It is dealing with disputes between individual believers and is the very last of process for addressing an unrepentant brother when none of the other previous steps have been successful.

The bad news is a larger number will just turn their backs on Christianity.

Why do you believe that? Catholicism has nothing to do with Christianity, so those leaving deception has no idea of Truth and what constituents Christianity as they are totally opposite of each other. I could see them not wanting anything to do with 'religion' which is a good thing. If they seek Truth, they will find it.

All I said was the truth that a "Catholic" who does not accept Catholic doctrine is not a Catholic, and you went mental.

And your fellow Catholics on this board have gone on record several times saying that *Once a Catholic, always a Catholic* and that Catholic baptism leaves an indelible mark our ones soul and beg us to *cross the Tiber* and come back *home*.

So which is correct? Your opinion or theirs?

And Catholics claim there's unity within Catholicism?

That's a joke. You all can't even decide whether someone is Catholic for life or not?

The faithful are not divided.

No kidding.

However, your church lays claim to all those who have been baptized and it doesn't seem to bother the hierarchy whether someone is pro-abort or pro-homosexual marriage. They can, and DO, still receive communion and Catholic funerals. And they are certainly counted as part of that 1.2 billion strong when someone wants to use the might makes right argument.

There's plenty of division and disunity within Catholicism. This study proves that.

And just where have i and where am i (two questions) manufacturing the anonymous straw men you failed to substantiate as being such?

Amazing. 6 words used for emphasis out of about a 100 and you are using all caps and spitting at your monitor. Just another example of RCs resorting to ad hominem attacks in lieu of an actual response.

The faithful are not divided.

But which simply affirms the division that exists in Rome, and which you cannot escape, for as said, Rome treats those whom you count as unfaithful as being members, and thus this is the church RCs tell us to join, which many left liberal churches for conservative ones already.

I can just imagine the layers of spittle on your monitor.

I can just imagine the surprise when you don't even have spittle in your mouth and crying out for a drop of water and no one hears or cares. And you will have LOTS of time to dwell on your own mental state when you BELIEVED 'man' over God and how rebellious you were to those who tried to tell you TRUTH. Dwell on that for that's reality!

'Once a catholic always a catholic' - happy to know that grates on you. AND THIS IS ESPECIALLY FOR YOU!!! You NEED SOMETHING TO WHINE ABOUT AND WHILE LOOKING FOR A DISTRACTION WHEN YOUR HEAR/READ TRUTH - HERE IT IS! ENJOY IT NOW FOR THE TIME IS SHORT!

GOD'S WORD IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY. JESUS IS THE WORD.

Yep, they are so predictable they are boring. We know they are 'into repetition'. They same old from the 'deceived'. They will have lots of time to reflect on 'their ways/their choices' when they can't do anything about it. The clueless only learn when it won't do them any good anyway. Their hardheadedness and cold heart towards Truth is their choice.

The faithful are not divided.

Who are the faithful to you?

Those who are faithful/(supernatural faith of God) to God or those who are faithful/(natural faith of man) to man.

They are both distinct and VERY DIFFERENT.
