Catholicism has nothing to do with Christianity, so those leaving deception has no idea of Truth and what constituents Christianity as they are totally opposite of each other. I could see them not wanting anything to do with 'religion' which is a good thing. If they seek Truth, they will find it.

Watching family members on my wife's side. I've seen several stop going to their RCC and instead of seeking a Bible based church, reading the Bible for themselves, or talking with a Born Again Christian they just laugh at the idiocy of Christians. They equate what goes on in a RCC as being Christian and as a result don't seek the Truth.
We've also had other family members come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, but most don't.
I know this is allegorical, but I do believe I've seen threads with stats showing that the majority of RC's that leave their RCC never pursue fellowship with Christians.
