Is the Solar System Really a Vortex?
universetoday.com ^ | December 18, 2013 | Jason Major on

In conclusion then, the first video and gif of the Solar System as a “vortex” are not really all that bad. Unfortunately, the inaccuracies are not due to some minor over-simplifications, but are symptoms of a some very deep-seated misunderstandings. My feeling is that if your take-home message was only that the Solar System moves through space, and the planets trace out pretty spirally paths, then all is well and no harm done. But if it’s leading you to question the heliocentric model, then we’re all buggered.

You meant ‘orbit around the moon’ not sun, didn’t you?

Hmmmm.. This theory would require the belief that the sun is revolving around something. I suppose that since the moon revolves around Earth, and Earth around the sun, then it would follow that the sun is also revolving around something and not tracking in a linear fashion.

Orbiting a giant black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The sun would be revolving around the center of the Milky Way and the linear look is just because the Galaxy is so damned large.

I meant sun because during the days the ship between the Earth and the moon it is in an independent orbit around the sun. Once it gets to the moon it would orbit the moon.

Some longer missions to consider are the recent trips to Mars. The probes go into elliptical orbits around the sun until they meet Mars's orbit right when Mars is passing. Then they fire the engines to match speed with Mars and enter its orbit.

What evidence do these folks have that our Sun is moving through space at a 90 degree angle to the plane of the elliptic?

It’s pretty clear that the solar system is actually a giant drill bit and it’s fracking the galaxy.

It's not like a cigarette butt thrown out the window of a speeding car.

I like that analogy. Now I'm picturing the Dog Star hurtling through space
with its tongue hanging out and its ears flapping.

If that was drawn to scale, there would be no loops. The path of the moon is pretty close to the path of the earth. The moon dithers about 500,000 miles to and fro vs. the path of the earth on an orbit about 180,000,000 miles in diameter. If the 180 million mile orbit of the earth about the sun is drawn as 18 inches (diameter), the moon's orbit waves a path .05 inch wide, a little wider than a pencil line.

Our solar system goes round and round through our galaxy like a turd that won’t flush.

Thanks, Every since I saw a “vortex video” and realized how strange that is, I have questions

Thanks, what would happen if the spaceship went in the opposite direction that the sun and earth are going?

And they explain the “Frisbee on the roof” syndrome.

It also perfectly solves the lost socks in the dryer conundrum.
