There’s some renewed excitement in the hunt for labor leader Jimmy Hoffa’s remains after a cadaver dog had a “hit” on something, Tuesday afternoon, at the dig site.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the dog, as he was walked around the search area, “reacted to some scent” in the ground — but investigators are not sure to what, exactly, the dog was reacting.
“I wouldn’t call it a conclusive it,” Bouchard told reporters.
“It [the dog] is supposed to be discerning enough to tell the difference between a human or other kinds of animals, but, you know, obviously we’ve had some time lags and differentials and so … we’re not sure if the cadaver dog was in fact conclusive,” Bouchard said.

How long does it take for dead bodies to stop emitting an odor? Hoffa’s been gone since I was in high School which is more than a few years.
If bodies stunk forever, that would be very unpleasant.

This sounds plausible to me, however, I know for a fact that Bigfoot is not a card player.
The Mythbusters actually went there a few years ago trying to locate Hoffa’s remains using advanced techniques. Negative results.

Man, you’re telling me! I won 600 bucks off him at a poker game one night.
Dogs are so unbelievable and talented. My Yorkie is as much a “big” dog as big dogs are. Sometimes, I'll see her put her nose in the air and sniff. Plus, she is a vacuum cleaner. She is close to the floor and absolutely nothing is on the floor that she doesn't know about. I have to make sure nothing falls on the floor that she could swallow and hurt herself. Of course, her toys are all over the floor but that's permitted.
Are they really so stupid they think that someone buried for 50 or more years(can’t remember exact date Hoffa disappeared)will still give off the smell of death?
38 years. But these dogs do this sort of thing all the time.
