horse drinking photo: HORSE DRINK 0905beer_drinking_horse.jpg Well ... if you have a mystery stud on a bourbon farm with five mares, things are gonna happen.

The gestation period for a horse is about 11 months, so the stud — which Montavon nicknamed Mystery Man — had been on the farm for at least that long without her knowledge.

She's a total idiot.

I agree...how could you miss another horse on your farm, in your barn etc. for nearly a year!

Plus the fact that he’s a Shetland Pony makes the story even more incredible!

These unexpected ofspring were once known as “wood’s-colts”.

The wind blew it in.

So that's five according to the headline.

a colt born to the mare Goldie and a filly born to Mert.

That's two.

He'd apparently been busy, because at least five other mares were pregnant.

That's five plus two, or seven.

A sixth mare, Snuggles, had a dead foal inside her,

Wait, six? That's eight by my count. I hate journalists.

Of the 50 mares in the field, 57 of them were impregnated.

I have witnessed such a mating. The mare stood with her back feet in a ditch, while the Shetland stud stood atop an embankment....
