A 2011 article in Pediatrics magazine found that children who had been asked to taste a "new" cereal reported liking the same cereal more if there were a popular character depicted on the box. "The use of media characters on food packaging affects children's subjective taste assessment," the study concluded.
Little surprise, given the long history of breakfast cereal manufacturers marketing their wares with the help of colorful cartoon characters or figures already familiar from TV, movies and comic books.

I have a Wheaties box with Michael Phelps on it from a couple of years ago. More than one visitor was amazed at what they thought was an excellent fake, as they thought his marijuana-related sponsorship problems happened before he was on the box.

Wacky packs were about as subversive as it got in sixth grade. Fond memories. I remember “Crust” toothpaste too.
Be very careful where you use that line. Know someone who got beaten to a pulp by Long Beach Police simply for asking a very short police officer if he had come to take his Lucky Charms. Well he took his Lucky Charms and a whole lot more.
