That is the opening. The next sentence is the key: Police say the reason they ticketed her was that she was driving in the left lane reserved for speedier commuters.

Like Sammy said: "I Can't Drive 65!!"

If you are going slow---MOVE OVER!

Good for the cops on this one!

Awesome! I wish they gave more tickets for slow driving in the left lane. It’s a real issue in Virginia—everyone just drives in the left lane. and it drives me crazy.

Just like I tell my wife, "Stay Out Of The Left Lane So You Don't Get Run Over!"

...but I'm doing the speed limit, she says.

Exactly! ..is my reply.

But, but I pay my taxes too, the passive aggressive slow-pokes say.

Well, you paid taxes for those right-hand lanes too, they are built just for you.

As the saying goes, when you are in the left lane:

The guy going slower than you is a JERK!
The one faster than you is a MANIAC!

For many years the only thing bolded and underlined in the Illinois "Rules of the Raod" was that the left lane was for passing only.

Two mph is nothing. There must have been at least a middle finger involved in this.

When I finally get by some inconsiderate ass in the left lane (usually by passing them on the right) I really would like to have a flashing sign in my rear window that says:

What Part of "Slower Traffic Keep Right" Do You NOT Understand?

When I go on cruise control at 64 in the far-left Carpool lane in a 60 MPH Zone, and people think I ought to be going 70+, well, they can just go around me in the fast lane.

Driving slow in the left lane with left turn signal on, neither hand on the steering wheel, talking on a cellphone with one hand and waving the other hand around the interior of the vehicle with one leg out the window.
She gets only partial credit.

Back when the speed limit was 55 a friend of mine was doing 55 in Los Angeles and a CHP car pulled up beside him and gave him a dirty look and motioned for him to speed up. When the flow of traffic is 70 go 70.

If you’re in the left hand lane and there is nobody in front of you and nobody to and the right then get to the right.

Alas for that cop you could drive a gazillion miles in the state of Maryland and never see a 'keep right' sign ~ just doesn't happen.

This was on I95 anyway ~ it's full of left lane exits ~ to get off the highway you must keep left.

Some backwoods spots in the far West might have a keep right law but not for multi-lane divided highways on the East Coast!

This was I95 in Maryland ~ your advice doesn’t work on that road. The cop seems to have been a newbie from an isolated rural township in another country or something.

Virginia has a great number of multi-lane divided highways. The rule is to use the left lane with on-coming traffic very carefully if at all ~ but the right hand side of the road, whether it's 1, 2, 3 or 11 travel lanes like part of I495 near me, is where you are supposed to move left to avoid traffic entering the highway at interchanges.

We can always tell those out of staters by the way they cut you off entering the road. So, a warning, we get to pack heat without a license ~ please be polite and MOVE LEFT to get out the way!

Slower traffic keep right is well and good, but when I’m cruising at 5 mph over the limit and passing a line of slower traffic, why is it some moron in a Beamer always seems to come screaming up to my bumper at 85? I feel no obligation to speed up to 90 to get out of his way; I’ll pull back to the right WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO!

Here’s an added wrinkle - in Kansas, you must get in the left lane when passing by a police car that has somebody pulled over.

The policae are draconian in enforcing this...to the point that its an insanely dangerous. Whenever somebody gets pulled over, I feel like its the start of a Nascar race, with everyone jockying for position.

If the person you get irratated with in the left is doing the SPEED LIMIT, then they AREN’T “slower traffic”...

WHAT PART OF “SPEED LIMIT” DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?
