If you are going slow---MOVE OVER!
Good for the cops on this one!
Awesome! I wish they gave more tickets for slow driving in the left lane. It’s a real issue in Virginia—everyone just drives in the left lane. and it drives me crazy.
...but I'm doing the speed limit, she says.
Exactly! ..is my reply.
Well, you paid taxes for those right-hand lanes too, they are built just for you.
Two mph is nothing. There must have been at least a middle finger involved in this.
What Part of "Slower Traffic Keep Right" Do You NOT Understand?
When I go on cruise control at 64 in the far-left Carpool lane in a 60 MPH Zone, and people think I ought to be going 70+, well, they can just go around me in the fast lane.
Driving slow in the left lane with left turn signal on, neither hand on the steering wheel, talking on a cellphone with one hand and waving the other hand around the interior of the vehicle with one leg out the window.
She gets only partial credit.
Back when the speed limit was 55 a friend of mine was doing 55 in Los Angeles and a CHP car pulled up beside him and gave him a dirty look and motioned for him to speed up. When the flow of traffic is 70 go 70.
If you’re in the left hand lane and there is nobody in front of you and nobody to and the right then get to the right.
This was on I95 anyway ~ it's full of left lane exits ~ to get off the highway you must keep left.
Some backwoods spots in the far West might have a keep right law but not for multi-lane divided highways on the East Coast!
Here’s an added wrinkle - in Kansas, you must get in the left lane when passing by a police car that has somebody pulled over.
The policae are draconian in enforcing this...to the point that its an insanely dangerous. Whenever somebody gets pulled over, I feel like its the start of a Nascar race, with everyone jockying for position.
Sounds like they charged her incorrectly, hitting her for driving “10 mph or more below the speed limit” when she was only doing 2mph under.
If she was blocking traffic, and they charged her with obstructing traffic, that would make more sense. Assuming she was actually blocking traffic.
Generally I think that law should be applied if some idiot in the left lane decides to pace the other cars in the center and right lanes to create a rolling blockade. I’ve been behind people like that before, they think it is their job to keep the rest of us from speeding.
I think we should allow people to go much faster if they like, and then have fines for accidents based on speed over the “recommended” limit.
So, instead of a speed limit of 65, they could have a “recommended limit 55, max 85”; if you are going 85 and have an accident, they charge you $1000 and suspend your license.
That way, we get to punish people who actually cause harm, while not restricting everybody’s liberty because of some lowest common denominator of unskilled drivers.
And probably pacing the car in the right. They speed up until they reach someone in the right lane and then slow down to their speed. It’s a sign they are not paying attention.
