Asking listeners to put aside his political orientation for a moment, talk-radio host Michael Savage questioned the federal government’s recommendation that citizens get a flu shot.
“Did Harry Reid take a flu shot? Did Barack Obama take a flu shot? Did Barack Obama’s lovely family take a flu shot? Did Joe Biden take a flu shot?” Savage asked.
“Which of the mandarins took the flu shot?”
He explained that he was talking specifically about vaccines and was not advocating the avoidance of all pharmaceuticals.
Known for his many books on herbal medicines, Savage acknowledged he has benefited from “an awful lot of life-saving regular medicines.”
“The Flu vaccine?” he asked. “No, I wouldn’t take it.”
Savage noted “not everything your government tells you is true.”

Wish people like Savage would focus on real stuff, this anti-flu shot thing sounds like he’s veering off into conspiracy land.
I started getting them about 5 years ago after a pretty bad bout of the flu. Couldn’t remember the last time I had the flu before that.
I took a flu once in 2004 and was ill for months afterwards. My 2 aunts took the shot and developed shingles 2 weeks later.
I’ll take my chances with the flu.
I personally found that show boring but Mike chooses the topic. Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.
4 coworkers took the flu shot and got so sick. I do not think the Flu shot is for everyone. Everyone’s body chemical is different. For some, their body can handle it but for some it just makes it worse.
The few years I have not had a flu shot, I suffered with the flu. Go figure. Hope your luck continues. ;-)

Yeah, I guess it’s not for everyone. Me and my family have taken it for years and no issues, but it sounds like you’ve had a different experience.
I still don’t like Savages approach. Instead of a rational discussion of the flu shot, it sounds like he’s turning it into a conspiracy thing.

This is a real issue and am glad Savage covered it - this is bald-faced tyranny. I am forced to have this shot or lose my job (I work remotely from the hospital and don’t take care of patients). The shots don’t work well enough to be given this elevation to mandatory compliance. Believe it or not, Drug companies actually do lie about effectiveness and risks for the vaccines. The Joint Commission that accredits hospitals entered into an alliance with GlaxoSmithKline in 2009 for a “Flu Challenge” - the Goal was to increase employee compliance in getting the flu shot for hospital workers. I call that a conflict of interest because GSK makes millions and the Joint Commission probably gets paid big money by GSK for the advertising. If you could just get everyone to wash their hands, that would have a greater effect on the patient’s safety and costs nothing.
Do they force the patients to have the flu shot before they will treat them? They are the ones with the compromised immune systems.
Yes we always had the conviction that God designed the body to fight infection but with the inside info on what is in the vaccines it was a very easy call to say no for our children. It is interesting to see all the hysteria about this latest flu vaccine when there is really no indication that it is a major killer. Sure people are running to the hospital but they are being whipped into a frenzy by the media.

I don’t think that a flu shot’s gonna hurt you but I heard the strain that’s killing people wasn’t one that is covered by this year’s vaccine.

Don't be so sure of that. A member of our community died last week. 50 year old mother. I don't know her total health picture but she seemed healthy enough. She died from flu shot complications is what we were told.
I don’t get good results from, and do my best to avoid, certain types. Doctors and spiritualists top that list.
I’ll take my chances with flu, which I get only rarely, and treat with an extra helping of the remedies I take for life in general: soap and water, music, humor, chocolate, bed rest, reading, sunshine, prayer, and loved ones.
Likewise. I attribute that to God blessing my life. And to taking 5000ui of vitamin D3 per day.
I started doing that some years back and haven't been sick a day since (God bless, thank you Lord).
I take the same dose and haven’t been sick for ages. I had a very, very mild flu a few years ago but no big deal. If only I could get it to lose this weight......
Never had a Flu shot. The last time I could remember flu like symptoms, alcohol was part of the equation. Since I moderated my liquor dosage I’ve since experience no problems.
Ditto. I used to catch lots of sniffles, colds, flu. Then in 2006, I started to take vitamin D3. Haven’t had any respiratory illnesses since.
My Dad was a paramedic. He took some vaccinations, but never the flu vaccine. He wan’t no part of it.

The shot is less than 60% effective according the the manufacturer.
Also, they first said that this shot was the correct strain for this year’s flu but later found out that it was not.
I worked for years at a med school monitoring clinical trials for human and animal vaccine development. Based on what I saw there, I will never take another vaccine.

I first got interested in it after hearing a radio infomercial about a special D3 formulation the guy was selling. For nine prices, of course.
So I just bought some at Wal*Mart and started taking it every day. It’s very inexpensive. I don’t know why more people don’t take it.
To be honest, I’ve read articles both ways on D3. But I rely on my own experience. Which has been very positive.
I haven’t had one ever, and I’m sure that is why I don’t get the flu.
Everyone that I know that gets the shots always seem to get the flu.
