THanks... that’s good info.
You’re welcome! My cousin has been there for about 15 years now. Went down in her 20s with the intention of opening a Christian children’s home. Married an awesome local guy and he is totally on board with her mission. Long story short, there has been a TON of bureaucratic red tape at every turn, from getting permits, to purchasing land, to getting permits for the children, and pretty much anything else you can imagine, so they have only recently completed the first home. It has been around a decade in the works.
That said, I guess it really depends what you have in mind. I know that more and more North Americans are vacationing and even moving there for work or retirement. It is a very American-friendly country. Lots of English is spoken and MANY places accept U.S. currency, which are both great perks if you want to visit and see for yourself (especially the English part, if the language is a concern for you. Everyone I’ve come into contact with there has been very patient with my Spanish, thank goodness!)
If you are serious about leaving the formerly great U.S., CR certainly has its flaws (my cousin has plenty negative to say about the socialism, obviously!), but you could definitely do worse.
Good luck!
