Your thoughts...??

Every ignored Staten Islander should show up at the NYC Marathon’s starting line and raise hell over the mayor’s priorities, and stop the race from commencing.

Staten Island is the most Republican and most conservative area of NYC. They don’t count.

Obama, Bloomberg and Christie are stuck on stupid.

Friends and family can't even get gas to run their generators.
Meanwhile the city has huge generators all set for the marathon just sitting there.

Don't these Staten Island people know that Obama "handled things" earlier this week?
He had his pictures taken in the White House situation room with the obligatory concern furrows lining his brow as he scanned the latest weather radar from the AccuWeather website. Then he was showed arm-in-arm with Chris Christie walking up some Atlantic City beach.
What else are these ungrateful Staten Islanders expecting?

Instead of spending billions on the global warming lie, our dear leaders should have been preparing for real weather disasters which have always happened.

If you are waiting for the Federal Government to help, then you are going to be waiting a long time. FEMA is like the DMV on valium. Take a number and take a seat.
If you are on Staten Island and need help, then go to your local church (I know, you enlightened New Yorkers all stopped going to church when Darwin was born, but find one and go to it) and see what relief you can get there. And if you live there and don’t need help but have some free time, then go to your local church and volunteer to pass out supplies or clear debris or baby sit children or whatever else you can do.
As Ronald Reagan said, the scariest words in the English language are “We’re from the Government and we’re here to help you.”

My thoughts? I'm f***ing pissed.
Those marathoners will be running past people with no food, water, medicine, clothes, or shelter. They will be running down the only cleared roads. They will be running past crews doing the initial door-to-door check for the dead.
There's a small army of volunteers invading NYC right now. That army brings with it tons of free labor, generators for electricity, clothing, space blankets, water, high calorie food and drink, and medical supplies. Sounds like a great source of help for disaster victims, right? Well too bad- because all that great stuff is there for the marathon.
And don't forget that a lot of paramedics are being pulled from other efforts and will be standing around doing nothing to "support" the marathon. The cops that are being used for even security are those who were due to have a day off Saturday. Many of them want to go home (if they still have homes!) and attend to their own Sandy-related problems too. But instead, they get to babysit recreational runners.
A lot of the people who've watched the news don't seem to realize how bad some parts of NYC have gotten it. Staten Island was laid to waste by Sandy.
Bloomberg wants the marathon to go ahead as some sort of sign of recovery and unity or some BS like that. But the simple fact is that those runners will be jogging through an ongoing humanitarian disaster, one in which people are still in danger of losing their lives. I laughed bitterly when I heard that the running club was pleading for help at their website because they can't find enough volunteers. Unbelievable.
To those who're obsessed with running your race- show some humanity and common freakin' sense. And to the Mayor of the City of New York- you can go eff yourself with the arm of a saguaro cactus.

When big natural disasters happen in NYC it is always the non-Manhattan boroughs that get shafted. Since the Upper West and West sides of Manhattan were not hit then the plutocrats who live there don’t care.
