I was thinking about the democrats and how they had to make a "statement" by pushing Obama on their constituents and America in 2008.
Im sure liberals in general, and democrats specifically, didnt realize in the months leading up to 2008 that there was a strong possibility that if and when Obama was elected that it would lead to where we are today. And where are we today?
It is definitely bittersweet, but it gives me great pleasure to say this: when Mitt Romney wins the 2012 election and then wins a second term, it will mean the democrats will have held the presidency for only 4 of the previous TWENTY FOUR YEARS! How do you like those apples Democrats? Wondering how or why this could have happened?!
I'll tell you how and why. Because the democrats HAD to push an unqualified, incompetent, muslim sympathizing (at best), communist, community-organizing half-wit onto the people out of their own liberal sense of superiority. They simply knew better than the great unwashed masses who, in reality, are the ones whove made this country great, not you quintessential know-it-all liberals. Yep, you pushed the envelope much farther than anyone dreamed and it has now backfired on you. Democrats are going to be deposed from the presidency for all but a very few years in the early 21st century. One-quarter of one whole century will pass and the democrat party will have had the Presidency for only 4 of those years. How do you like swallowing that democrat congressmen and senators? You drank the Kool-Aid, did The Ones bidding and kept your mouths shut when you knew it was wrong and bad for America.
Guess what else, you dumb-as-rocks liberals and democrats?! (Money quote below)!
IF THE DEMOCRATS HAD PUT FORTH A CANDIDATE THAT WAS EVEN HALF-WAY OR REASONABLY QUALIFIED; THAT EVEN HAD SCINTILLA OF LOVE FOR AMERICA, HE OR SHE WOULD BE WINNING THE 2012 PRESIDENCY GOING AWAY!!!
But noooooooooooo! You couldn't do that could you democrats? No you had to go for the whole liberal enchilada. Of course comrade Obama didn't give you nearly what you wanted--full capitulation to all things liberal--though he tried and failed.
So what are you going to do now democrats? Cry and whine about far too many of us not understanding the nuance to governing or some such bovine excrement? Will you moan about Obama simply being too nice or not being liberal enough (*GAG*)?
My guess is that a great many will be like the millions of people who claim to have been at some historic baseball game in the 1950s. Youll live your pathetic lives out claiming to have been hoodwinked or that you were never really in the game to begin with. Youll pretend you were suspicious of Obama, but you didnt have a vantage point for understanding what real hope and change even means, probably because of the great George Bush. Yes. When all is said and done, youll disallow yourselves of any responsibility for the worst economic times since the 1970s and ushering in the uber-nanny state of America, while guaranteeing that Democrats become a sideshow of irrelevance. How apropos.

The Socialists’ post turtle turned out to really believe he was as special as they said he was. That was their grievous error.
They had it all. In 2008, the Democrats controlled all branches of the federal government, including a filibuster-proof super majority in the Senate. The Democrats could push anything they wanted into law.
What they wanted was Obamacare. The problem was that no one else wanted it.
Yep, it’s like they won the lottery, but blew it on gambling, drugs, and whores.
True. I’m just thankful that Barry Obama is as incompetent as he is.
Am I the only one on here that doesn’t count chickens before the eggs hatch? I agree, but damn, wait till the votes are counted.
WARNING: Its not over till the fat journalist chokes on the scum in her throat..
Obama was the best thing that could have happened to this country at that point in history. He woke up a whole lot of people who would otherwise still be fast asleep.
The only upside is that:
1) more than likely you will never see another black man elected president in our life time. Didn’t Lincoln warn us about this folly?
2) the DemoRat party is an ink spot in history. TOAST !
My concern is where will they go now that they’ve discovered their party is now ruled by socialist, commie Nazi’s thugs?
Bittersweet indeed.
I’m going independent after the election only because the GOP will also be flooded with RINO’s, special interests and entitlement storm troopers.
You’re right. I’ll try to tamp down my expectations a bit.
Happy FReeping!
I'm thinking of doing the same. I started out as an indy when only a teenager because I didn't know what either party stood for. My parents were split. I take a lot of pride and some comfort in getting my dem mother to change to Republican after voting straight Dem ticket for 40 years or so. She came from a Pittsburgh steel working union family.
Hopefully the damage isn't so bad that it can't be reversed. Of course reversing anything will require someone who has the desire to do so.
IS THIS THING EVER GOING TO "CONNECT TO SERVER"? ? ?

The Dems went with somebody they thought could win, and he did win. One reason he won is that he didn't have much of a record. He never really had to shoulder the responsibilities that other politicians have to deal with -- and often fail to deal with, ruining their careers.
So, sure, when Obama got in and had to deal with real problems, he failed, but who was the great Democrat who would have changed everything for them? Edwards, Biden, Dodd, Dean, Kucinich -- could any of them have won and made a decent president? Not so likely.
I guess Hillary would have been the other choice. Probably -- with all that was going on in the Fall of 2008 -- she would have won the election, but how good a president would she have been?
Like I said during the primaries when everyone was talking about the great (non-existent) conservative candidate who could have trounced Romney and then Obama: you can't beat somebody with nobody.
All true. I think almost any dem candidate without a dead body in their trunk would have beaten McCain in ‘08 because of the media’s constant attacks on Bush. IMO, that is who Obama was really running against the first time around, simply because McCain’s persona could not transcend his mediocrity as a candidate.
As for this election, I may be getting ahead of myself as some others have posted, but I’m just hoping some democrats actually do read this (and get more depressed than usual) and don’t vote.
My primary vote here in FL went to Gingrich, fwiw.
Yep. If they’d had enough sense to nominate even Hillary (who I can’t stand BTW) instead, she’d probably be cruising to reelection this year. But nooo, they just had to push the Kenyan clown on us.
Yep. They could have had it all. They even show liberal cartoons in which the conservative can't even think of one reason to oppose their ideas except for racism. But, nope, the liberals just had to endanger all of humanity (global warming) just so they could vote for the black guy and be cool. Bunch of racists.
