got a strange message from Internet explorer before trying to post this one ... Were the jets headed toward D.C. or were they headed toward the Atlantic?

there’s a website to listen to aircraft traffic, don’t remember but it can be googled

Run-in for a military funeral at Arlington Cemetery.
Usually done on a different axis but depending upon where the burial plot is, can fly over Rockville.

We had a lot of them after 9/11. What part of Rockville are you located? I’m in Rockville and didn’t hear a thing. ( I am assuming someone got into the air space... happens enough times for it to be relatively common)

btw .. this is the second report in the past two days from Maryland of which am aware. One yesterday, one today. Don't know about other reports. If it goes tomorrow, more jets, and no airshow one would have to wonder if someone in the Military or at the Pentagon is making a statement, or perhaps simply a flyer's prank.

I used to get similar calls when I was stationed in England. I just asked: “Were they American?” Yes, they said. I responded with: “You’re welcome.”

They're fighter-bombers headed for Montgomery County Elementary schools just like like the one I attended.
The first wave drops the cukes, then come the condoms.
Word has it Obama and the NEA got the idea from those Air Force Bake Sale bumper stickers.

Rockville is on the route between the White House and Camp David. In the 1970’s I remember seeing convoys of about 3 Marine choppers flying overhead a lot.

To: Bulwinkle
It usually means that some civil aircraft stumbled into protected airspace, either in DC or around Camp David. Not a big deal. I live near there, and it happens often enough that frankly I don’t even pay attention anymore. Don’t get excited (yet).

Bells Mill. I Never learned a thing about the Founding Fathers but boy, when it came to Harriet Tubman I could lecture for hours!
The other memorable event was the time we were asked to find, key, identify, paste-to-posterboard and do a little verbal shenanigan on the leaves of no less than fifty different kinds of "flora." Now I was a pretty smart kid, even in fourth grade, but the project was assigned in December, in snowy, barren Washington, and due after the Christmas holiday.
The kids were absolutely distressed... The parents were beside themselves, digging through the snow for weeks looking for leaves...
I did manage to get all the leaves. I was the only one who did.
My mom owned a flower shop on P and 21st.
And she was PISSED.
So you should of seen the eyes of the kids when I pulled out these huge, exotic flowering rainforest species, pointed out the window, and told the class, (as carefully instructed,) "Aww, yeah, there's a whole bunch of these down by Cabin John Creek..."

Harrier pilot. The Marines never forget their own and still hold on to tradition. Not saying anything bad about the other branches just giving a good example to model after.
I’m getting to be an old man. My admiration for the Corps only grows. They remain a beacon of light that represents all that is American that is good.
The opposite of fear is not courage, it is love.

Dude, if that happens you know I'm looting Crisfield's. Look for the guy with the tub full of softie sandwiches and a can of Old Bay. The ONLY reason, ever, to be on Georgia Avenue.

This noise was not "fighter jets". It was atmospherically "bounced" noise coming from the old Hagerstown Speedway on Route 40, just east of the old bridge.
When the Coriolis Effect intersects with altered Jet Streams and the Aurora Borealis, the engine noise from the Old Speedway bounces off the slopes of South Mountain and can set off burglar alarms as far off as Wilmington, NC.
It is this strange concatenation of physical phenomena that used to so disorient the young naval pilot John McCain that he would often become lost over the Chesapeake. I believe he was emotionally involved with Harriet Tubman at the time.
