Am I the only one who feels utter and total contempt for the so called poor? This is the most free, by far, any country in the history of the world, and yet we have these scum-sucking parasites that have not taken advantage of it, instead they cannot take care of themselves, their children, nor their elderly.
When I see a poor person, I am filled with disgust. How can this individual(or group of individuals) live like this and not feel that they have the opportunity just in front of them that the rest of the world would kill for?
My contempt level is pretty high for the poor parasites, but it reaches epic proportions for those that are poor and obese! How can they even live like it? Do they have no dignity? No shame?
America is wasted on them. In fact, America is now dying under their weight.
Sorry for the rant.
There are poor , and there are parasites. The two are not necessarily related.
I have many poor I feel sorry for and do all I can to help. others I wouldn’t loan a crutch if they only had one leg.
Being poor doesn’t mean you have to live in squalor, sopa isn’t that expensive, many people with little are clean,intelligent an had bad breaks. Others take advantage of Government entitlements. Even those with entitlements can be clean.Many poor are elderly and lived their lives barely skimping by. It isn’t good to judge all poor by one standard.Some just need a little help.
On Sunday the local tv news had a feature about distribution of free backpacks filled with school supplies to the local poor.
It was interesting to see how nicely turned out the mothers were, professional hairdos, $300 glasses, $200 shoes, iPhones, etc. Would liked to have seen what the parking lot looked like....was it Buick, Lexus, Escalades?
I feel much the same as you do...however, the more that you deal with them, the more that you realize that the vast majority of the truly poor are “not very smart”. I realize that many, if not most, are laggards...but there is a large percentage that just don’t have the ability to do much of anything.
It will be interesting to see what your REAL status is when you stand poor, blind, and naked and without your wallet, before the creator of the universe, in judgment.
If having poor people is such a bother to you, how will you answer when G-d himself asks why you didn’t bother to set up an economic system according to HIS precepts which allows the poor to make a decent living??
A lot of the indigent are Old or Children.
I bear them no malice.
Able bodied mooching punks are a different matter.
I feel sorry that you didn’t sober up and ask this Admin Mod to delete this stupidity.
Young man (I say young because an older, wiser man would not make such stupid comments as yours), you need to ask THE Lord about poverty and wealth!
Until you do, no amount of money can remove your poverty of spirit!

For me, I try to avoid feeling sorry for anyone; it robs them of their dignity.
I do however feel compassion for people who have a tough row to hoe, how could you not? and if they face their troubles with a good attitude I do admire them for it.
Many people find themselves in financial trouble at some point in their lives maybe to the point that you could call them poor. It may happen to you. Try to go through it with some grace, keep your eyes on God, and if some numbskull looks at you with contempt, try not to judge him too harshly. He’s young.
It’s just a normal, but stupid cry for help. He might be standing on a ledge somewhere...ready to jump.
I stood behind a very well dressed black lady in a check out line who purchased a basket full of groceries that would feed a king. She exceeded the limit on her EBT card and used an AMEX gold card to pay the balance.
I think that is who the poster is chiding.
Sagar could have been a lot more concise in his rant but I think I know where he/she is coming from.
“Poor” and “sucking the govteat” are not necessarily the same thing.
I am poor, and I take nothing from the gov. People who live of govteat are disgusting, whether they live on HUD/ACFD/ etc or corporate and ag bailouts/giveouts/name de jour of money given to huge corporations.

i was raised by a very poor, single mom. She never took a dime of gov’t money. We were homeless for a time. I even ate food out of dumpsters for a time.
But she took every job that would have her, sometimes three at a time. She worked her knuckles to the bone to get me through highschool (graduated with honors) and into college.
And the whole time, she was nursing an old back injury and sick with untreated autoimmune diseases. She’s work until she dropped, then drag herself back to work again.
And my husband and I started off dirt poor. We busted out butts to get out of it and are now comfortably middle class.
Most people start out poor. You have to build from somewhere. Sometimes people have it good, then get slammed to the ground and have to start over.
No. I don’t ‘feel disgusted’ by the poor. I’m cheering them on. I want them to grow, learn, work and succeed.
It irritates me to no end to know that there is tons of legislation sitting dead in a GOP house that could clear the way for an economic boom. My congressman sponsored H.R.750 - Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act which would strip regulating power away from the EPA and return it to congress.
He introduced it in February of 2010 and it has over 100 co sponsors and it hasn’t even gone to committee yet because our sainted GOP leadership is too busy trying to figure out the best way to use it to manipulate people into voting for them.
Nothing is accomplished in Washington anymore because that means losing a weapon.

Err, no, the rich in the times of Christ were oppressive Governments and Rulers, the poor were poor because of them.
The US has no oppessers or rulers (ideally).
