i noticed the diff too, and am not sure when that happened. but what’s really hilarious is my 89 yo FIL who has clearly forgotten what PROM is, bc xshub told his dad that xsjr was going to prom, and he sent her $400 saying how proud he was of her “making prom” and that he knows how hard she works, and that mommy and daddy are very proud of her too. he clearly thinks it’s some academic honor she has acheived! we have been roaring about that all week!

I’ve found myself watching iCarly or Wizards of Waverly Place when no one else is around.

Even speaking as IT, “I can feel your pain” — working often from home as today, my own account gets locked out due to comm glitches, and I have to go through hoops (or is it halos ;) to get a senior Admin to release it.

In ye olde dayes, when staff came to my desk with an issue I would be able to ensorcell them with garrulous technical B.S. but now most seem to know more than I do...

LOL! I was going to add that to my post, but I thought it would be more fun to see if anyone knew the joke. Congrats!

Thanks! It was a great set up.

It was Hillary Duff in Lizzie Maguire. She has mercifully turned out to be a non train wreck. I once saw her on a decorating show where someone was trying to recreate her sewing room. When she got stressed out, she went in a sewed things from scratch. OK. Most people just do drugs ( in hollywood....). Good on her.

how proud he was of her “making prom”

Perhaps your father-in-law remembers a time when "making prom" was synonymous with "getting promoted." I'm pretty sure that "prom" is derived from "promotion." I'm "only" 64, but there was a time, before the libs foisted "social promotion" upon us, that the issue of whether you were going from fifth grade to sixth (for example) or repeating fifth, was not fully resolved until you received your report card.

i had to email xsjunior to find the name of the show since neither of you were offering it up! lizzie maguire! was that before your time? icarly and wizards of waverly place were just a smidge past her Nick viewing.
Soother, it’s a good thing we are all friends here bc i honestly don’t think you should tell anyone else that, bc it indicates a deep rooted SICKNESS, imo... ; )

But surely, they’ve eaten at restaurants with silverware. They never noticed how they are arranged?

i think our IT dept works from home also, bc i have had one or two tell me that. they can unlock, but not reset passwords, remotely. so i have to traipse down there for the re-set. i wrote down what i had changed it to, and put it in exactly and STILL it wouldn’t take it, thus the trip to the bowels of the building.

Nothing sick about it. Disney and Nick make some traditional, classic sitcoms. That’s all. Regular TV tries to be edgy and vulgar (which has its place, mind you), but sometimes it’s fun to just watch a dumb, formulaic sitcom.

yeah, but still in this context, she wouldn’t know if she wasn’t being promoted til mid_june. and yes i remember that too, there were kids who were worried they wouldn’t pass. back in the days when we were 64 kids to a classroom with a single nun at the front, who would clap her hands to tell you to shut up, and you had to stand up every time an adult came into the classroom. looked foolish for several weeks when i went to public jr high and had to break that habit of standing for adults.
