Thanks Amy and I also like yours. So true too! Tomorrow,
today will be yesterday and we will never see that day
again so I suppose we need to make the best of it, if its
possible!

Oh Happy Day...Linda’s retiring and I’m sure she’s glad
although we can have mixed emotions over it!

Have fun at the party, you all! Congratulations to Linda!!

The precious children....I re-read the story tonight and it
was wonderful except for his terrible wounds and his life
thereafter but to capture that picture as his last was something to be thankful for and to think it was the most
famous picture ever....AMAZING!

It wasn't his last - he had an extensive post-war career.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

I guess I was confused by this sentence:

"This memorable image was to serve as the final picture in the famous "Family of Man" Exhibition."

I just didn't read it correctly! I have a learning
problem...LOLOL!

Conor, thank you for bringing our Tuesday Children.

We all have heard of Ernie Pyle ... thank you for sharing the the story of W. Eugene Smith. If “The Walk to Paradise Garden” is a good example of his work, he was a very talented photographer. Thank you for introducing him and his work to us.

I was still in PJs when I discovered my Oooops, so I didn’t know whether to grab a sweatshirt or a pair of shorts. :)

Congratulations to Linda. Wishing you and your family a fun-filled Wednesday afternoon.

It WAS funny. I couldn’t believe it when I realized that I had posted on December’s Thread. I still don’t know how that happened. :)

Let me tell you how it happened. None of us are perfect
and I make plenty of mistakes. Its better to make little
mistakes and we all do it. Not a person on Amy’s can say
“I’ve never made a mistake.” Besides we all need to have
a good snicker now and then. There was only one perfect
person and that was Jesus.

Thank you for making us smile today! I’m on my way to bed as
I just finished my before nap in the lazyboy....LOL! I have
a lady coming tomorrow to help me with the house!! Its her
first time with me. I like her so far a lot. She came by
a couple of weeks before so we could meet each other.

God’s Wheelchair

May 30, 2012

Jean Driscoll is a remarkable athlete. She has won the Boston Marathon eight times. She has also participated in four Paralympic Games and won five gold medals. Born with spina bifida, Jean competes in a wheelchair.

One of Driscoll’s favorite Bible verses is Daniel 7:9, “The Ancient of Days was seated . . . . His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire.” Seeing a connection between Daniel’s vision of God and her own situation, she is able to pass along words of encouragement to others. “Anytime I’ve had an opportunity to talk with people who use wheelchairs and feel bad about being in a chair, I tell them, ‘Not only are you made in the image of God, but your wheelchair is made in the image of His throne!’”

Daniel’s vision, of course, doesn’t portray God as being impaired in motion. In fact, some see God’s “wheelchair” as a symbol of a just God sovereignly moving within human affairs. Other passages speak of God’s providence providing help to those who believe (Prov. 3:25-26; Matt. 20:29-34; Eph. 1:11).

Jean Driscoll’s faith in God has helped her triumph over personal challenges. We too can be confident that the high and holy One is near and ready to help us if only we ask (Ps. 46).

He cannot fail, your faithful God;
He’ll guard you with His mighty power;
Then fear no ill though troubles rise,
His help is sure from hour to hour. —Bosch
With God behind you and His arms beneath you, you can face whatever lies ahead of you. —Ward

Dog Chose Man

There is a story told by the American Indians that the Great Spirit decided to divide the worlds of animal and man
so he gathered all the living beings on a great plain and drew a line in the dirt.

On one side of the line stood man --- on the other side stood all of the animals.
And that line began to open up into a great crevasse -
and at the last moment before it became unreachable, dog leapt over and stood by man.
