Governor Palin

Posted on 10/06/2011 7:00:39 PM PDT by Outlaw Woman

The absolutely incredible and historic opportunity presented to you has now been squandered. Governor, what was the point? You accomplished great things (for which I thank you) after resigning but keep in mind that the reason for the support was that people believed you were going to run for President yourself. Do you honestly believe that people and supporters surfaced for any other reason? You allowed the 'illusion' to continue knowing full well you were not going to run..

Some people uprooted their lives and some, spent their savings because of the belief they had in you. You would have been one of the greats Governor; you could have help to right this magnificent ship we call the United States of America, but instead, like any other politician, you hide behind others and use them as your excuse to not run.

Your fellow countrymen/women called on you and you led all of us on a wild goose chase ending with a wimpish letter declining to run. I'm sorry for you; I’m more sorry for my country. I’m glad & eternally grateful that men going into World War II didn’t refuse because their children begged them not to go; we’d all be speaking german now and ignoring the slaughter of undesirables if they had.

Family loyalty is a wonderful thing Governor, but without our mangificent country the family unit will be reduced to nothing.

President Palin would have been far more effective than Citizen Palin. In the end it turns out that you are just another politician.

it would have to be something more than polling.

Polls this far out from a presidential race mean just about nothing. Reagan trailed carter by 17 points in spring 1980.

I can believe the family issue, and also the fact that she would run effectively against the GOP, national media, and Democrats, and even if she won, she would not have enough of her supporters even in GOP to do much. Also she may have felt like money would be an issue and there might be continuing lawsuits in AK and legal abuse against her family.
What i dont understand is why she waited this long to say no. But it is what it is.

Obviously from reading FR, her credibility and reputation have taken a hit. I hate to speculate about the future. I do hope though she can effectively argue for American to develop our own resources instead of paying foreigners for theirs.

All this maudlin, over the top aggrandizement of Sarah Palin tells me that a lot of people are really despairing and in need of something or someone to believe in. I guess it’s a sign of the times.

It is indeed. And in the years to come, a few will still breathlessly await the Great Pumpkin.
Interesting that it is October, isn't it?

I’m not quite clear what you mean “Don’t overreact here” FRiend.

As to the rest of your post, it is spot on imho. Although I do disagree somewhat that she would have only managed to ‘slow’ the train a little. Her election, imo, would have been akin to a revolution.

I’m afraid you are right on the coming implosion. Trying to stock up here with necessities; being somewhat in my own personal economic implosion, it’s a bit difficult and slow going.

Regarding something significant b4 the election, that too seems likely. I was just reading another thread where one of the posters said Breitbart has some information regarding something that he said will be a ‘game changer’. Have you heard that?

I don’t agree at all Cgg. She made a difference and to try to diminish that by stating “she was nothing more than attractive woman who had become the governor of a small populated state” is to deny the evidence & facts.

Where she has diminished herself though is from the bombshell she dropped. There are many stating they will be behind her even after this; but there are many more that will turn a deaf ear.

Really, how can she now go out and articulate the problems and say she is fighting to change them and yet refuse to join the ultimate battle? No longer can she take potshots at others with any kind of credibility. imo

No she may not have asked for anyone to spend their private money...but she did set up a PAC in her name allowing contributions; she did allow individuals to set up various grassroots organizations to be formed, which are not cheap, and continued on allowing others to continue the speculation. She fed that speculation by being coy everytime she was asked about running when she could have stopped all of it by just stating upfront in interviews, “don’t ask me about running for President”.

However, it is what it is.

If you recall would you mind providing the thread name? I would be interested in reading that too. Thanks much.

I do. Initially I was a big supporter, but the more I saw of her, the more uncomfortable I became.

I agree with you. Squandered all of it.

Just a couple of points.

Six months ago would have been a disappointment but understandable.

Two weeks before the deadlines start kicking in is (to put it mildly) disrespectful.

With the movie/DVD, I think in the end she tried to “split the baby” between helping Bannon and not letting her supporters begin viewing parties. That failed miserably.

I also don’t like the cutsie-cutsie ending to all of this either.

“To think that her political career has officially peaked is the height of naiveté, IMHO...”

The reverse is true. It’s over for Palin.

She would have won. The tea party would have taken her to the White House. No doubt about it. Squander it all.

Yes I doubt that. She has a hard time sticking through hellish circumstances and right now our Presidents are faced with hellish circumstances of historical porporations. She would have been a tortured President.

She did the the right thing for her family when she prematurely quit her Gov. job and again, when she did not run for President. Her family had been traumatized by evil elitists.

She also shook down her supporters of not only money but of heart and soul with the cruel game of feigned indecision she played. She lost lot of trust and credibility playing this game with good hearted people.

I firmly believe that the tripping point will start in Europe with Greece defaulting. Everything they are doing is the same we did papering over the problem with more and more debt. We are all debt saturated. Their Money Center banks like ours are technically insolvent.
Germany is the key and their people want no more part of bailouts. So without Germany backstopping, and frankly they can only do so much, the European Union and the Euro are on a life support ready to fall.
When that happens our own mess comes out in full view and the Government and the Fed have nothing they can do as they spent every dime 3 years ago propping the system up instead of putting those banks and insurance companies in a controlled liquidation receivership.
Something is coming and that will be the real game changer in the coming election and probably primaries.

Where she has diminished herself though is from the bombshell she dropped.

There was no bombshell. Everyone who was willing to look at her actions objectively knew she was not laying serious groundwork to attain the highest office in the world.

I agree with your last paragraph. For those of us who thought this would end like this and tried to make warning signals, we were called haters and excoriated.

No human being deserves the kind of adoration and praise that was being heaped upon Sarah Palin. I'll say it again, if she looked like Helen Thomas, this would not have happened.

I am sorry for this. One of my very best friends spent her valuable time AND MONEY on this wild goose chase. Fortunately, it is over.

Just another point.

Putting Sarah Palin aside as an individual for a moment, one of the things that’s a bummer about her not running was the fact that she had been vetted so thoroughly.

Alinksy - If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.

The left had pushed negative lies about Palin so hard and so deeply that it was pushing through to become the opposite.

Joe McGinniss’ book was proof of that. The caricature of Palin was becoming the caricature.

Can't disagree with your analysis on this post. Particularly the part of how those who were more cautious were treated. You're right; however, some were just nuts on the pro-Palin threads; repeating the same talking points ad nauseum and some just made ugly remarks(at the beginning). But even the reasonable comments were flamed.

It was a bombshell; using your own anecdote as an example.

Respectfully

Thank You, CGG. I agree completely. But how many of us felt we could say that on FR before this?
The problem with being ‘called by God’ is that people who genuinely ARE, usually say ‘yes’. If Palin got a call from God, she said no and hung up.
As a Republican woman, I never liked her. There was always something FAKE about her, shallowness. She’s ALWAYS had a FAMILY- what’s new about that? They didn’t stop her from running for VP-did they? Suddenly, NOW they matter more than politics? More like she milked it for attention as long as she could without having to actually Deliver anything.
I don’t think she has the gravitas to be President and she knows it. She enjoyed the media attention, played it out, collected campaign contributions( refunds coming?) and TEASED as long as she could. When the wall came, and it was ‘put up’ time. She SHUT UP. The desperate ‘spin’ being put on it is just sad- and fascinating. Since when are QUITTERS more effective, and more noble, than those who fight and take the pain? Why are so many so desperate to excuse in Palin what we vilify in general?
Don’t you see the similarities between the ‘Obama is the ONE’ types and the Palinistas? She is their ‘savior’- same attitude re. Palin with some on our side. That kind of blind devotion and worship scares me.
Palin is Obama-White.
