I am having surgery tomorrow and will have up to an eight month horrible recovery. I have a wonderful team of doctors so I got that going for me. Yes, I am totally scared but am looking to being well again. Prayers are very welcomed.
I am looking for something to do as I will be bedridden for much of that time and thought of learning Arabic or Spanish through the Rosetta Stone. Any suggestions? I just want to turn this negative into a positive. And make good use of my time. (and this is my first post. Not sure if I am posting in he right area) Many thanks everyone!!!
Prayers up.

I'll say a prayer for your recovery, sweetie. Keep your chin up.
May God bless you as you recover.
Amen.
Will be praying for your strength and wisdom. Don’t push yourself right away to do anything but relax. Which language to learn will come to you later.
Prayers and good luck. And yes, keeping your mind occupied and challenged will be great therapy. Take this time to explore something you have passion for.
You might start reading up on meditation as a way to help you through your coming long convalescence.
I had a 6 months plus period this last year myself ~ couldn't just walk around, no exercise, minimal food input, medicine all the time, semi-blind ~ you name it.
There are several people here on FreeRepublic who are into presenting religious thoughts for your consideration. Charity and Salvation come immediately to mind, and you don't have to be Catholic to benefit from many of the things they take us through.
I like the language idea and learned to use Google.com's advanced language features that include a huge number of on-line interpreters.
Good luck with your surgery. Good luck with your recovery.
Spanish or Arabic??
Why not Chinese or Korean?

Good luck on the surgery!
Prayers and all the best. If you expect Obama to be re-elected then study Arabic, if not, Spanish.
Good luck to you.
Personally I would suggest getting a PS3 and double up on the painkillers.
praying for you....
I'd recommend Chinese no matter who wins.

Getting lost in some good books can pass the time, or, if you are so inclined, get a laptop and write the great American novel! It might help to have some little project that you look forward to each day even though your situation isn’t the greatest.
Oh, and there is always FR. We’ll keep you entertained!

Prayers for your successful surgery, for your medical team, and for your quick, worry-free recovery.
Learn Spanish. It’s easy to learn, and you can keep yourself sharp by watching Spanish TV shows on TV.
