Survivor: Nicaragua

Posted on 09/15/2010 2:53:14 PM PDT by EveningStar

I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only, and as time and health permits. You people are used to - and deserve - more. Hopefully, someone more qualified will step up and take this over. :)

Wikipedia article

Survivor: Nicaragua is the 21st season of Survivor. It will moving to Wednesday nights this season. In fact, it begins tonight, September 15, 2010, 8/7c.

The theme this season will be Young vs Old. The players will include a former NFL coach (Jimmy Johnson) and an amputee triathlete champion (Kelly Bruno).

From Wikipedia:
Survivor host Jeff Probst, has also announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will continue to be used in the game. However, as idols have been found too easily the past two seasons (most often by Russell Hantz), or as the show's producers have dubbed it, "The Russell Factor", the idol will be hidden differently. The clues to the idols' locations will be visual rather than written as in past seasons. In addition, the tribes will be vying for control of a new item, the Medallion of Power, that, when used, gives an advantage in a challenge, but is then transferred to the other tribe.

Let's meet the players.

Here are photos of the players.

Listed below are links to player profiles. They include a video clip of the player, which is, unfortunately preceded by a short - but annoying - ad.

Must be since Fabio and Dan both booted out Jane. Why the heck Dan and Fabio didn't vote out Holly was just stupid. At least then it would have been a 50/50 purple rock draw.

Jane voted for Sash, knowing he had the immunity idol, that this was the last tribal council he could use it at, so even if Dan and Fabio had voted for Holly, Jane would have gone home.

I still like her the best this season

I do too! I've always said that if I was on that program I would look at it like a 30 day vacation in the tropics and form a bond with the most down to earth person and stick with them all the way to the end. Jane was indeed a country person and I really liked that about her as well has her moxy.

Of all the contestants, Rupert Boneham is by far my favorite.....

Just listened to Jane’s final words in the above link and all I have to say is what a great southern gal she is.....She was loyal to the end but was ultimately betrayed. Hopefully she’ll have her payback during the final jury voting.

Jane is the biggest sore loser since Sue Hawk in the first Survivor.

She supposedly watched Survivor for years. She apparently hasn’t been paying attention. People try to avoid taking those to the finals who are certain to beat them.

Supposedly what went down between her and Sash happened in the water..where the sound guy doesn’t go.

SO..........

It could have been sore loser talk..or the truth. Thus, since there is no evidence..it all gets edited out.

I think it must have been this episode because it seemed a disjointed editing...and strange if she was all fired up that she would only go after one person.

It wasn’t clear what kind of tie breaker they would use - as there have been different kinds. If they went for a revote - Dan stood the chance of getting voted out. So, that would be why he wouldn’t change his vote. It could have been a purple rock or fire challenge or revote.

A lot of people think Probst went too far in trying to get these dunces to figure out a strategy when he suggested doing the tie vote.

Next season will have Rob and Russell..two people who know how to play the game and fight hard.

Thia season has a bunch of stupid people...except the one person who is labeled the stupidest..Fabio..may just be an act. He said he studied game play from previous seasons.

Here is clip of the meltdown..love the sound editors on this one.

And look at Fabios grin at the fire dousing...
Jane suggests that three of them vote for Holly...but when it comes down to the vote..she votes for sash.

Something went on that we didn’t see.

Jane had nothing to lose and she did good all through the 37 (?)days; and they did turn against her. She did good killing the fire. Served them right.

I will vote for her being the outstanding player up to this evening.

A lot of people think Probst went too far in trying to get these dunces to figure out a strategy when he suggested doing the tie vote.

He's stirred the pot before. That's his job. They always complain that TC can last hours, so you know he's digging and shaking things up. If it went down in the water, then that's even more believable that it did happen. Shash has been wheeling and dealing all season so he would know to take it away from the camera guy. It's a little less believable that Jane would make that up in the spur of the moment especially since she was so mad and out of sorts. I figured his ego would get the best of him and couldn't stand him from day one. Hubby, who doesn't discuss or read about the show, said weeks ago that Sash was a liar and couldn't be trusted. It's fun to watch some contestants lie and plot, but when others do it it's just plain creepy. Sash is in the creepy group.

I think Fabio still being in the game is more from luck than from smarts.

Survivor is three hours tonight which interferes with Sarah Palin's Alaska. However, we can catch the rerun of Sarah after the Survivor Reunion.

The fire dousing was great tv! I wish Jane would give a Snake and Rat speech tonight but she won’t need to after last week’s TC and being with the jury a few days at Loser Lodge to fill them in on what went down with Sash. Just wait until they start comparing notes, uh huh. Too bad, they’ve probably all been told by the powers that be not to say a word about it on tv.

I want Fabio to win tonight. He's stuck to his guns from day 1 and was comical relief at times. His strategy has been to play it dumb and he's done that well. Benry may try and take issue with him, but really ... he was trying to get them to vote for Fabio so he hasn't a leg to stand on.

If Sash makes it to the final 3 there's not one person on the jury that would award him. He had alliances with each and every one of them and voted against just about all of them if not all of them.

Dan, although a nice man, is worthless. He's done nothing to deserve even a spot in the final 3.

Holly, the "mother" figure turned out to be a pretty nice lady after she had a rather rocky start. Throwing Dan's $1400 shoes into the ocean while in a fit of anger may or may not work against her. She's certainly lost Jane's vote. Will Jane sway the other jury members?

Chase has been wishy washy from day one. If he had a single thought or action of his own I certainly never saw it, with the exception of the reward challenge win screw ups. You don't promise to take someone and then renig. Everyone is starving and you don't dangle that carrot ... take it away and expect to remain friends. If he makes it to the final 3 he lost votes with his reward actions.

So, if Fabio can win immunity and make it to the final 3 I crown him the winner of Survivor Nicaragua.

Alright..for those that think Fabio is stupid..

in the pouring rain...and way behind in getting his puzzle pieces onto the stand...pulls it out and beats everyone in putting together the puzzle.

Fabio for the win.

Cracked up laughing at the overhead shot of Dan way behind as they were running.

Sure, Dan has to have a big house to keep his 23 pairs of alligator shoes.

I kept switching over to Sarah's show, did they show who voted whom?

Glad that Fabio won. Not that he was the best contestant, but he was the best of the remaining ones. Who won't want to be his girlfriend (?) right now because you know he'll be broke in 6 months. What the heck was he blathering about doing with the winnings??? Goofy to the end. Even Jeff's eyes glazed over.

I can't believe Chase got as many votes as he did what with being so wishy washy and stabbing so many in the back with the rewards. All I can think of is that 4 felt he'd handle the million better than an immature model/surfer dude. Yo, Chase, you'd be cashing that check in the morning if you'd not thrown Jane under the bus. Karma stinks, huh.

Good for Jane winning the fav and I just knew she was going to bring a Sue speech at the end, woohoo! Good for the jury not to grant the Rat a single vote.

Whoa, what was that with Benry and Sash being gay? It's obvious he is but Jeff certainly was getting worried there on live tv. WHY did he even broach the subject???

Sorry, Ghetto, but that was all you on the show not your game play like you tried to float. As Jeff said, they let her work with kids?!? I wouldn't want my child in her class, either.

Evening Star, thanks for handling the ping list. You did a great job. Please keep me on the list for Feb.

Supposedly Sash offered to pay Jane’s mortgage on her farm aka dog training facility if she’d work the jury and vote for him. It’s against the rules to make deals to split the million. Apparently, they turned off the cameras for two hours during the TC (last week’s when Jane went off on Holly and was voted off). But Sash was smart enough to make the deal out in the ocean where the camera guys couldn’t listen in. With no proof on the cameras, it was a he said, she said. With no proof, that’s why the new alliance of Jane/Fabio/Dan to force a tie between Jane and Holly didn’t play out. Plus, depending on the tie breaker, it might have been Dan’s head on the block. That’s why Jane made a point of voting for Sash (despite him having immunity) instead of Holly. In the end, the jury believed Jane and not one gave him a nod.

Some are claiming that when Tina and Colby (Austalia) made a deal that the winner buy the other a motorcycle, that it was the same type deal. No, it wasn’t because they were already the final two so couldn’t vote so any deals wouldn’t change the outcome of the game.

Jeff (or rather Burnett) wimped out with that new ruling about quitters. That wasn’t a ruling, that was zip, nada, nothing. IMO (not that anyone asked), if you quit the game you don’t pass go, you don’t collect your $, and you certainly don’t get to keep playing on the jury.

Did you happen to catch Jimmy Johnson's interview? I thought it was pretty cool that he actually applied to Survivor 3 times previously in order to get on and that the third time he was finally accepted but failed the physical. I guess during the physical the doctor detected something wrong with his heart which forced JJ to see his cardiologist. As a result, he had two stints put in his arteries, went on a diet, lost weight and has been in great health since.

I wish he would have lasted much longer, I'd love to see how he would have dealt with the rest of the players.
