I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only, and as time and health permits. You people are used to - and deserve - more. Hopefully, someone more qualified will step up and take this over. :)

Survivor: Nicaragua is the 21st season of Survivor. It will moving to Wednesday nights this season. In fact, it begins tonight, September 15, 2010, 8/7c.
The theme this season will be Young vs Old. The players will include a former NFL coach (Jimmy Johnson) and an amputee triathlete champion (Kelly Bruno).
From Wikipedia:
Survivor host Jeff Probst, has also announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will continue to be used in the game. However, as idols have been found too easily the past two seasons (most often by Russell Hantz), or as the show's producers have dubbed it, "The Russell Factor", the idol will be hidden differently. The clues to the idols' locations will be visual rather than written as in past seasons. In addition, the tribes will be vying for control of a new item, the Medallion of Power, that, when used, gives an advantage in a challenge, but is then transferred to the other tribe.
Let's meet the players.
Here are photos of the players.
Listed below are links to player profiles. They include a video clip of the player, which is, unfortunately preceded by a short - but annoying - ad.
La Flor (age: 30 and under)
.
Espada (age: over 40)

Drat, first time that Jeff’s blog was pretty much a waste of time. Kinda hoped he’d be defending his ‘I’d probably have done the same thing’ comments from last week.
Stupidity #1: Eating a chicken before tribal council. What? You need energy to get voted out? Complete waste of time.
Stupidity #2: If you’ve still got Dan on your team why would you even consider voting out Tyrone? I know that you’ve got to keep Naonka around so you have a throw away when it comes to the final vote, but it was like Dan turned invisible.
Stupidity #3: Really, Marty? I mean, where do you start, and where do you finish? Hidden Immunity Idol, can’t catch a ball, bragging to the camera - Seriously, there’s such a thing as being entertaining, but not only are there voters among your tribe, there’s also the viewers at home who award a nice hundred k. They don’t tend to reward stupidity.
Stupidity #4: Self inflicted wounds are the worst. Tyrone shot himself in the foot the moment he got back from the challenge. Sit back, shut up, and see if the new ‘captain’ has anything to say, since they just happened to have hand picked half of the new tribe. That makes it 5-3 to start with, you should listening and figuring out which of the newcomers might flip, and which of them will be your target to boot out. Being excited over a chicken isn’t an excuse.
Who told you that?!? No, hens lay eggs because that's what they do - with or without a rooster. You only need a rooster if you want the eggs fertilized. Same as in humans - females produce eggs, males are needed to make the next generation. So, boil the rooster and save the hens for their eggs. FYI, at one time I was raising over 100 chickens.
I didn't notice if they boiled or roasted the hen. Boiling would save more of the nutrients and fat. Roasting lets the juices and fats drip into the fire.
Also, they should have had someone pick the meat and skin off the bones and divide it out evenly AFTER the TC. The bones should have been saved to boil again for the broth to make double duty out of it. Did they have rice? Cook the rice in it - yum. Add the feet, as well. Also, break the bones so the marrow can be sucked out. For triple duty, fish with the bones and head. Perhaps fashion a fish hook or fly.
I am saying I didn’t know whether you needed a Rooster for a hen to lay eggs. I suspect they didn’t know either.
Doing a search on the internet shows that a lot of people don’t know and wonder if a rooster is needed for the egg.
Why kill the hen before the rooster...because they thought they needed the rooster for the eggs. It’s their lack of knowledge on the subject - which is not uncommon on this question. That is what I am getting at.
There it is. For a million dollars, one would think that after all these seasons someone would learn to do a bit of research on this sort of thing. They've had chickens on and off since Season I when Jena named theirs Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner (ok those happened to be all hens, iirc). Same with fire, was Jane the only contestant in all these years to think some fire making skill might come in handy? And so many along the way didn't know how to swim or use a sling shot or how to build a shelter and like, duh, to turn the opening away from the prevailing winds and rains. And their attire! Sure, let's wear poorly made clothes so that they fall apart first thing and did you get a load of Ghetto's shoes?!? At least the men have sense enough to put on a shirt and pants when it gets cold while the bikini (or bra and panties - what, we needed swimwear on the beach?!?) clad women are clueless. Most of it is common sense, but for a million dollars, I'd have at least rented every season's video and tried to learn from past mistakes. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it and Mark Burnett plays off that every year.
There was someone else in seasons past who made fire with eyeglasses. I can't remember who it was but I do remember it happening.
Any predictions? :)
There is an uneven strength match between the older and younger group, still. Tyrone had strength. It seems they are motivated by a fact of the moment, and not by long term strategy, which is not what I expected from the older ones.
That is what makes horse races ... things are different on any given day.
I'll let you know when I wake up from my fantasies... Because Jeff's been really annoyed in his blog, but Naonka’s edits haven't been as bad as they could have been, with to me discounts certain rumor spoilers about.
Can I join you on Fantasy Island? It’d be great to see both Marty and Ghetto take the walk of shame. I can see Marty giving someone the II and the youngsters go in for the kill. However, in no fantasy dreams can I see Ghetto let loose of hers. I’ll just cross my fingers she loses it, forgets to play it, or someone steals it from her.
That’s like the Amazing Race. People on there should know the things they are going to have to do.
Like, you better get good with driving a stickshift because it could cost you the race.
Learn how to read maps.
Bring a compass.
Etc.
It always amazes me when people come on these reality shows that have been on for years so ill prepared.
Keep watching..the spoiler on the Trash talking ghetto girl , if true, is going to be delicious.
Last episode was the Harbinger of what is to come...
A true..ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! ....AFTER ALL THAT TRASH TALKING.......
Oh please, please let your predictions come true.

Marty is an arrogant idiot. He should have played that idol after what went down in tribal council.

I liked Yve. Or maybe it was just an absence of “dislike”. At any rate, is there ANYbody in this season left worth pulling for? There’s a couple of people who’ve not gotten a lot of face time, but I’m not feeling it for anybody.
Yve turned out better than what I thought at first but I’m not going to miss her. Ok, fine, so Kelly B. has one leg. Big whoop-te-do. It’s not like she ever played the sympathy card nor ticked anyone other than Ghetto off. She’d have been the last person I’d have voted out. If anything, it’s to the point of cruelty to keep Dan’s knees on the beach. And no, I don’t know that any of them this season are worth the effort to root for especially Marty. Yeah, he was an idiot not to use the II. What the heck was all that Brenda talk about flushing the II out when in the end she let him keep it? She just gave him another week’s pass. Dumb and dumber.
I see very little “skill & tactics” this season. The young folks had a big alliances and have used it like a hammer.
The old folks had an alliance and made sure those on the outs knew it.
After the swap the younger folks had the numbers and other than Marty with Fabio nobody tried to really split off and of the younger ones. And Holly and Jane flipped as soon as getting back to camp.
If there are six in your little alliance you need to know if you’re number one - or number six.
I dislike a lot of people this season, but some I dislike more than others.
I should like Brenda, but I don’t.
I dislike Naonka, Jane, and Brenda a lot more than I dislike Marty.
