I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only, and as time and health permits. You people are used to - and deserve - more. Hopefully, someone more qualified will step up and take this over. :)

Survivor: Nicaragua is the 21st season of Survivor. It will moving to Wednesday nights this season. In fact, it begins tonight, September 15, 2010, 8/7c.
The theme this season will be Young vs Old. The players will include a former NFL coach (Jimmy Johnson) and an amputee triathlete champion (Kelly Bruno).
From Wikipedia:
Survivor host Jeff Probst, has also announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will continue to be used in the game. However, as idols have been found too easily the past two seasons (most often by Russell Hantz), or as the show's producers have dubbed it, "The Russell Factor", the idol will be hidden differently. The clues to the idols' locations will be visual rather than written as in past seasons. In addition, the tribes will be vying for control of a new item, the Medallion of Power, that, when used, gives an advantage in a challenge, but is then transferred to the other tribe.
Let's meet the players.
Here are photos of the players.
Listed below are links to player profiles. They include a video clip of the player, which is, unfortunately preceded by a short - but annoying - ad.
La Flor (age: 30 and under)
.
Espada (age: over 40)
Little bit of chatter here and there.
Most dealing with a shake up, merge and final three. At least with this season rumors are all over the place.
And the way things add up some of it must be wrong.
Not like the last two seasons where the correct boot list was out weeks before the first episode.
From Rob’s blog, “If the Survivor gods can grant me one wish this season, all I want is to see Jimmy T. and NaOnka end up on the same tribe at some point.” I have to admit, that would be a great tv moment though I don’t know if my tv will last that long before I throw a shoe at either of them.
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/community/blogs/blog.php?key=0
I have a feeling A-Hola will be around for the next several episodes. Her mouth will get her booted about the final 6, however she’d be the one to take to the final 3.
I wish you were wrong but I fear you are right. She is the most detestable Survivor yet.
Speaking of “the final three”, there was an article about it on one of the links up the thread. FWIW, I’m against it. It’s silly to have three. Final two worked. If it ain’t broke...
Woohoo! Jimmy T. was booted. Notice he didn’t even bother to wish his tribe good luck. That dude is a bit on the creepy side. Is it just me but is this season’s contestants a bit of an odd ball group? There’s no one to root for but many to hope they get the boot soon. If it weren’t for the new challenges, it’d be unwatchable.
Yahoo!! One down, two to go. Right now if I had to pick 3 people who I’d like to see get to the finals it’d be Jane (the fire starter), Fabio (the airhead) and Kelly B (just to spite NaOnka).
This thread is going to be a team effort. Please feel free to post Survivor related items to this thread.
Voted out last night: Jimmy T
Combined Reward and Immunity challenge winner: La Flor
Espada (Sword) Tribe (blue buffs - older team): Dan, Holly, Jane, Jill, Marty, Tyrone, Yve
La Flor (The Flower) Tribe (yellow buffs - younger team): Alina, Benry, Brenda, Chase, "Fabio" (Jud), Kelly B, Kelly S, Naonka, Sash
Losers: Jimmy J, Jimmy T, Shannon, Wendy
Medallion of Power status: La Flor played the Medallion. It is now in the possession of Espada.
Immunity Idol status - Espada: Marty has the Idol. Jill was present when he found it. She gave him the final tip on how to find it.
Immunity Idol status - La Flor: Psycho Naonka has the idol. She flips out, body checks Kelly B, and grabs clue 2. She shares the clue with Brenda who gives her the tip on how to find it. Brenda then shares this knowledge with Chase, but doesn't tell Naonka that she did so.

This is a new Survivor ping list. The old list is no longer available, so I would appreciate it if any of you could ping interested parties to this thread. Thank you. :)
If you wish to be added to or removed from it please let me know.
I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only.
Jane (the fire starter) - Yes, FINALLY after all these years someone had the common sense to learn to build a fire!
Fabio (the airhead) - Please, no. For his sake, the poor kid needs to go before he ends up having some freakish accident.
Kelly B (just to spite NaOnka) - Love it! Anything to spite Ghetto.
The older tribe is letting Marty lead them in the wrong direction. First they vote out the guy that is a natural born leader and then they vote out the guy who is a fisherman by trade, Idiots!
I want it to be family vs family. Or better yet, FreeRepublic ( we choose who goes on ) vs DU ( they choose their best )...
Please add me to the ping list. Thanks~!
There is a spoiler out there about the despicable black chick who can’t seem to stand a one legged Survivor.
If you want to know it do a google search.
If you don’t want to know it...keep watching....
It could explain the editing we are seeing....The editors don’t seem to like her as she is getting a really evil edit.
I am surprised that Jeff didn’t know that the Evil woman knocked over the Handicapped one and smushed the bannanas.
I figured he was always kept apprised of what went on during the time he wasn’t around.
I’m in. But they have to hand out weapons. I choose the .50 cal sniper rifle.
LOL - good one... liberals - can’t understand them, can’t stoot ‘em... We’ll have to play the game - no weapons...
LOL - good one... liberals - can’t understand them, can’t shoot ‘em... We’ll have to play the game - no weapons...
I Googled NaOnka for the spoiler and couldn’t find what you mentioned. Do you have a link that I can go to? I know that editing is done to make the show more entertaining, but we can’t deny that the words have come out of her mouth.
The older tribe is committing ‘hari cari’, JMO
WHAT ARE THEY THINKING,?
Doesn't seem like good game play ...
So far, it seems they are not taking notice, that it is the women that are gaining strength of numbers ...?????
SPOILER ALERT

If true, I laugh in her face from now on until it happens....
Thanks! Wouldn’t surprise me at all. I think she is a despicable person. How she manages to hold on to her day job is beyond me.
At the end of last week's episode, the preview clip for this week's episode showed the Survivors dropping their buffs.
This was too early for a merge, so it had to be a shuffle. A second preview clip released a few days ago, reveals just that.
It will be interesting to see the new teams.

Interesting. This ought to muddy up the waters for some *cough* Marty *cough* NaOnka *cough cough*. Can’t wait to see who lands where and with who. From the clip we’ve learned that Jane, Marty, Brenda and Fabio are on the yellow tribe at the kiddie camp where all the cool toys are and NaOnka, Ben and Chase are on the blue tribe at the geezer campsite. I couldn’t make anyone else out.
There’s no one to really like this season so, for me, no matter how they switch the tribes, it’ll just be counting down to Ghetto’s boot. Which ever one Dan gets on, he’ll be the first to go.
There’s still a few that we haven’t seen much screen time on which makes it hard to determine whether we’d like them or not. Benry’s one ... seems like he’d be a nice guy but I don’t know him from Adam, Yve ... well, I’ve drawn a blank and there’s some names that I don’t even know yet. I guess they’re not worthy or interesting enough to have screen time, but I’m sure we’ll soon find out.

waterboarding Survivor style
Naonka..your whiny butt can’t go home fast enough
OMG, can Espada aka ex-Oldsters, be any stupider? First, don’t kill the egg laying hen. Second, don’t waste your food before tribal. Eat after tribal and split the bootee’s portion.
What the heck were they thinking to bring Ghetto to their tribe? And then they kept her after her big whaaaaa I wanna go hoooome over Tyrone who is a proven athlete.
Ha, I was thinking dramamine, myself in the spit and spin. Ugh. But I am enjoying the new challenges this season. Of course, once again, Ghetto sat out a challenge that might get her ‘do wet.
Oh so close!! This game loves to taunt me. Glad to see no-one tossed their cookies while being spun around. At least I don’t think they did. Who knows what they spit into the bowl? Ugh ... I just grossed myself out with that thought.
I have to admit that I didn’t know if you needed a rooster for a chicken to lay an egg. I suspect many there didn’t know either...so kept the rooster thinking it was needed.
Tyrone was right. Immediate gratification instead of thinking long term.
When Tyrone got back to camp after the switch and started laying down the law I was like - “Stop - Stop - look at their faces - you’re POing them.” And then being Mr Grumpy with the chicken?
But this happens every time with people like Holly. She was made to feel like an outsider and right after the switch she jumped to the other side. Hope she has a life raft in her pocket ‘cause they’ll cut her adrift as well.

Drat, first time that Jeff’s blog was pretty much a waste of time. Kinda hoped he’d be defending his ‘I’d probably have done the same thing’ comments from last week.
Stupidity #1: Eating a chicken before tribal council. What? You need energy to get voted out? Complete waste of time.
Stupidity #2: If you’ve still got Dan on your team why would you even consider voting out Tyrone? I know that you’ve got to keep Naonka around so you have a throw away when it comes to the final vote, but it was like Dan turned invisible.
Stupidity #3: Really, Marty? I mean, where do you start, and where do you finish? Hidden Immunity Idol, can’t catch a ball, bragging to the camera - Seriously, there’s such a thing as being entertaining, but not only are there voters among your tribe, there’s also the viewers at home who award a nice hundred k. They don’t tend to reward stupidity.
Stupidity #4: Self inflicted wounds are the worst. Tyrone shot himself in the foot the moment he got back from the challenge. Sit back, shut up, and see if the new ‘captain’ has anything to say, since they just happened to have hand picked half of the new tribe. That makes it 5-3 to start with, you should listening and figuring out which of the newcomers might flip, and which of them will be your target to boot out. Being excited over a chicken isn’t an excuse.
Who told you that?!? No, hens lay eggs because that's what they do - with or without a rooster. You only need a rooster if you want the eggs fertilized. Same as in humans - females produce eggs, males are needed to make the next generation. So, boil the rooster and save the hens for their eggs. FYI, at one time I was raising over 100 chickens.
I didn't notice if they boiled or roasted the hen. Boiling would save more of the nutrients and fat. Roasting lets the juices and fats drip into the fire.
Also, they should have had someone pick the meat and skin off the bones and divide it out evenly AFTER the TC. The bones should have been saved to boil again for the broth to make double duty out of it. Did they have rice? Cook the rice in it - yum. Add the feet, as well. Also, break the bones so the marrow can be sucked out. For triple duty, fish with the bones and head. Perhaps fashion a fish hook or fly.
I am saying I didn’t know whether you needed a Rooster for a hen to lay eggs. I suspect they didn’t know either.
Doing a search on the internet shows that a lot of people don’t know and wonder if a rooster is needed for the egg.
Why kill the hen before the rooster...because they thought they needed the rooster for the eggs. It’s their lack of knowledge on the subject - which is not uncommon on this question. That is what I am getting at.
There it is. For a million dollars, one would think that after all these seasons someone would learn to do a bit of research on this sort of thing. They've had chickens on and off since Season I when Jena named theirs Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner (ok those happened to be all hens, iirc). Same with fire, was Jane the only contestant in all these years to think some fire making skill might come in handy? And so many along the way didn't know how to swim or use a sling shot or how to build a shelter and like, duh, to turn the opening away from the prevailing winds and rains. And their attire! Sure, let's wear poorly made clothes so that they fall apart first thing and did you get a load of Ghetto's shoes?!? At least the men have sense enough to put on a shirt and pants when it gets cold while the bikini (or bra and panties - what, we needed swimwear on the beach?!?) clad women are clueless. Most of it is common sense, but for a million dollars, I'd have at least rented every season's video and tried to learn from past mistakes. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it and Mark Burnett plays off that every year.
There was someone else in seasons past who made fire with eyeglasses. I can't remember who it was but I do remember it happening.
Any predictions? :)
There is an uneven strength match between the older and younger group, still. Tyrone had strength. It seems they are motivated by a fact of the moment, and not by long term strategy, which is not what I expected from the older ones.
That is what makes horse races ... things are different on any given day.
I'll let you know when I wake up from my fantasies... Because Jeff's been really annoyed in his blog, but Naonka’s edits haven't been as bad as they could have been, with to me discounts certain rumor spoilers about.
Can I join you on Fantasy Island? It’d be great to see both Marty and Ghetto take the walk of shame. I can see Marty giving someone the II and the youngsters go in for the kill. However, in no fantasy dreams can I see Ghetto let loose of hers. I’ll just cross my fingers she loses it, forgets to play it, or someone steals it from her.
That’s like the Amazing Race. People on there should know the things they are going to have to do.
Like, you better get good with driving a stickshift because it could cost you the race.
Learn how to read maps.
Bring a compass.
Etc.
It always amazes me when people come on these reality shows that have been on for years so ill prepared.
Keep watching..the spoiler on the Trash talking ghetto girl , if true, is going to be delicious.
Last episode was the Harbinger of what is to come...
A true..ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! ....AFTER ALL THAT TRASH TALKING.......

I liked Yve. Or maybe it was just an absence of “dislike”. At any rate, is there ANYbody in this season left worth pulling for? There’s a couple of people who’ve not gotten a lot of face time, but I’m not feeling it for anybody.
Yve turned out better than what I thought at first but I’m not going to miss her. Ok, fine, so Kelly B. has one leg. Big whoop-te-do. It’s not like she ever played the sympathy card nor ticked anyone other than Ghetto off. She’d have been the last person I’d have voted out. If anything, it’s to the point of cruelty to keep Dan’s knees on the beach. And no, I don’t know that any of them this season are worth the effort to root for especially Marty. Yeah, he was an idiot not to use the II. What the heck was all that Brenda talk about flushing the II out when in the end she let him keep it? She just gave him another week’s pass. Dumb and dumber.
I see very little “skill & tactics” this season. The young folks had a big alliances and have used it like a hammer.
The old folks had an alliance and made sure those on the outs knew it.
After the swap the younger folks had the numbers and other than Marty with Fabio nobody tried to really split off and of the younger ones. And Holly and Jane flipped as soon as getting back to camp.
If there are six in your little alliance you need to know if you’re number one - or number six.
I dislike a lot of people this season, but some I dislike more than others.
I should like Brenda, but I don’t.
I dislike Naonka, Jane, and Brenda a lot more than I dislike Marty.
