Here you go. The follwing BC instructions clearly allow parents to classify their race however they want. They can check one of the boxes, but they can also check "other" and write in their own classification:"

The year was 1961 when Obama was born. You show me a .pdf form revised in 2003 "REV. 11/2003" .

That won't do Un-curious. Try again as "African" is not a race. The word refers to a person who comes for the continent of Africa.

Just playing skeptic again because someone has to... How would a man from another country filling out paperwork at a hospital while his son is being born, know about US protocol for racial classification? From his perspective, if he were from Kenya, it could be that their way of classifying these things would be native Africans versus European. So filling out African would make sense. What needs to be found is not what others in Hawaii filled out as race, but from the perspective of the Father, what someone from Africa would list in that circumstance.

Sorry, my friend, but the burden of proof is on you to prove that somehow "African" was unacceptable in 1961.

If it is accetable today, then the presumption, until proven otherwise, is that it was acceptable then.
