This is long overdue.

Those guys in Washington have become an aristrocacy. They serve themselves and their monied interests...not the people. They need us to put some paramaters around them.

We also need term limits...maybe one amendment could cover both issues.

Don’t know how that wording is going to work out — does this mean no one can buy lunch for anyone else over a certain dollar amount? Do we each get individually gerrymandered fiefdoms?

A double edged sword.

I’m not a big proponent for changing the Constitution for it is good as is, Why is this not the basic expectation of one and all in this country? That is the real problem.

How can any citizen think these dweebs in congress should have separate regulations around them and added perks. They are our representatives not our Kings and Lords. Representative means that are an individual speaking on my and yours behalf, our equal but speaking with one voice. Well that is suppose to be what they are doing. We just need to make sure the next batch sent to replace these twits understands this.

Term limits are already in the Constitution. Members of the House of Representatives are up for re-election every two years. If you don't like your rep, vote him/her out. Senators have a six year term.

Before you talk about amending the Constitution you might read and undestand it.

I’d like to add a second part to that:

Congress shall not appropriate or spend money on any state, county, city, business, organization, or individual without the same benefit being extended to all like entities. (Pork for one means pork for all, or no pork at all!)

I have a better one that accomplishes the same thing:
The Congress shall make no gifts.

Here is a proposed amendment:

Congress shall not receive monies from the states or localities via any means, except as agreed to by a constitutional amendment, and congress shall not allocate any monies to the states or localities for any purpose, except as agreed to by a constitutional amendment.

If congresscritters cannot take money from the states and if they cannot allocate money (pork) back to the states, it eliminates almost all our problems.

I think we should try Term Limits again. It failed once, maybe someone can try it again. But we need to realize, should such a bill be passed, the Golden Goose of power, perks and privilege will be killed for those who have become accustomed to living the high life off of the publics dole. The elites of dc will fight it. The elites include our elected royals, their staff and lobbyists.

This is SO stupid. It's an embarrassment to FR that it shows up here from time to time.

There HAVE to be laws that apply only to Congressmen. Should everyone get funding to run several offices and hire the people necessary to staff them? Should everyone have the same access to classified information? Should everyone have equal access to the Capitol and Congressional office buildings; or should these buildings not exist at all? I could go on.

You are correct about lengh of each term, however our elected have learned the art of reelection. “I’ll give everyone who votes for me, ice cream”. So the citizens reelect the elected, then realize the “ice cream” “given” to the citizens will come from the citizens pocket, not the elected’s.

I would extend that amendment to apply to members of the Executive and Judicial branches also.

I read it, understand it, and...teach it at the college level.

There are no limits on the number of terms a member may serve...you don’t seem to understand the meaning of “term limits”....much more than merely being returned to a gerrymandered distrist...a way of limiting the old guys like Murtha and Dingel would help.

May I suggest:

Congress shall set no restrictions, entitlements or taxation that do not apply equally to all citizens of the United States of America.

Amending the constitution is made possible and at the same time, difficult, by the 5th article of the constitution itself. Any amendment requires a 2/3 majority vote in both houses of congress, or a 2/3 majority of states voting to convene a constitutional convention.

If it was a simple process, imagine what the libs could do. The first thing that would be amended in all likelihood would be to revoke the 2nd amendment!

Term limits are already in the constitution. Two year terms for reps, six for senators and four for president with a two term limit. We the people simply have to step up and enforce the limits ourselves.

I propose a microscopic background check be conducted on everyone and their immediate family members that is elected to public office. Any corruption and/or dirt, they’re not sworn in.

Surely we have law enforcement capable of conducting detailed background checks on these feces history and background back to their BIRTH.

Where’s the background check on Zero? If you’ve had a security clearance for government work or the military, explain how these feces got clearances to walk the halls of our Congress and “our” White House???

Anything smell foul or sinister to you?

I know this sounds crazy: I would have thought that no law COULD be passed that didn’t apply to everyone. But, that implies common sense exists within the Beltway...

There are no limits on the number of terms a member may serve.

That is not the question. EACH term has a limit. How do YOU define "Term Limit"?
