Next stop....THE WORLD SERIES....
(Excerpt) Read more at boston.com ...
Timlin got robbed on a strike.
That, and the home plate umpire is "forgetting" where his own strike zone is. This is ridiculous... I don't see how the Rays can lose now, between Timlin and this @ss**** umpire.
Good night all...
Good night nutmeg. ;-)
LOL! Here I was teasing you about not being able to stay awake. I fell asleep in the 9th inning.
Timlin...at least he showed us why the Orioles let him go.
Walking the #8 and #9 hitters...
Good game for the Rays. Headin’ up to Boston.
I heard about the Rays victory from a bunch of drunks on the NE Corridor line back to Princeton.
Yes...a good thing there’s no game tomorrow.
Although Monday’s game is in the afternoon. Which in Boston in October is a smart decision. Nights get chilly.
Well the game, although technically afternoon, starts after 4 PM and then games four and five are after 8 PM. The only reason they start at four is because the NLCS game starts at 8 PM.
I am glad there is no ALCS game today also...hate to have to choose between football and baseball!! (even with the DVR ready to record one!)
I’d be thrilled with a lineup of .270 hitters in a short series.
Great pitching beats great hitting any day.
As Earl Weaver once said. “Nothing happens until the guy on the rubber delivers the ball”. (paraphrased ;^)
Yep. But he consistently favored the Rays hitters and pitchers all night. It’s annoying to lose, to say the least, but we did get a split. All the pressure is on Wake in Game 4. I have no idea what to expect.
I was watching game with friends here but didn’t go online to comment on in. Let’s just say I was hoping they wouldn’t have to use Timlin (great pitcher..in the old days) and
we saw what happened. 1-1 going to Fenway is OK but 2-0
would have been much better.
Am cheering for Phils to beat Manny Ra-ME-rez and the Dodgers (but...I hear
Philly hockey fans booed Palin? Yikes...) Philadelphia is a great city; my cartoon fan convention was there for a few
years and I have also attended a game at Citizens Bank Park.
$10 parking (yay); an hour to get out of parking lot (boo...)
...cheesesteaks ‘n’ chowdah in the Series?
I don’t either. I know that they need to have the bats working though. With that said I know Francona won’t do much tinkering but it’s painfully obvious that Ortiz is a liability with his inability to do anything but draw walks and hit pop-ups. He has no timing and he is trying to hit HRs when he doesn’t have it. Somehow Francona needs to get Pedroia, Drew, Youk and Bay hitting together with a decent leadoff hitter and someone in the 9 hole who can get on base. Ortiz should be asked to take a seat. Beckett too. Hell, he was willing to allow Lowell to ruin what was left of his career.
YIKES! That didn’t go over the air, did it?
Yes, he certainly wasn’t a proponent of ‘little ball’.
He was a big fan of 3-run homers. LOL!
He was about on base percentage and the big fly ball., dominant starting pitching and defense too.
I hope so! I've got a good friend who is one of the rare LEGITIMATE sox fans in this area - i.e. has always been. it would be a lot of fun.
“How funny to see all these nouveau Rays fans at the Trop. How ‘bout that... they actually filled that dump? ;-)”
The 2 games I went to down there earlier this year actually had more Red Sox fans in the stadium than rays fans.
