To get a sense of why conspiracy theories centered on sex trafficking and pedophilia — and now the “Epstein list” — are so buzzy in MAGA circles, POLITICO Magazine called up Mike Rothschild, author of The Storm Is Upon Us: How QAnon Became a Movement, Cult, and Conspiracy Theory of Everything and Jewish Space Lasers: The Rothschilds and 200 Years of Conspiracy Theories.
Rothschild pointed to a toxic stew of age-old antisemitism; the worst incentives of today’s social media; and the right’s unending obsession with Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Donald Trump pops up in the documents, including some released on Monday, but that’s typically not a problem for his hard-core supporters. As with most conspiracy theories, adherents create their own reality.
“There’s nothing Trump can do that will lose these people’s loyalty,” Rothschild said. “Anything that is inconvenient, that alters their worldview, they’ll just ignore it, or they’ll make up some bizarre justification for it.”

Always fun when a grimly earnest Lefty dons his or her K-Mart lab jacket and proceeds to give us the benefit of amateur psychoanalysis of half the country. Yes, believe it or not, it’s not particularly weird to be concerned about children being raped and abused. It isn’t an obsession. It isn’t deep-seated guilt. There’s nothing psychopathological about it unless being normal is. Which is the real issue, isn’t it?
One, the leftist media is obsessed with “Qanon”. Two, it is never the left’s actions, it is always conservative’s response that is the issue.

That is what is called a clue.
It is a classic intelligence agency tactic (perfected for centuries, not just decades) to create fake opposition or dissident groups either from whole-cloth or to run them by infiltrating leadership.
Then you have them make fools of themselves in various ways as you choose—and take your sweet time discrediting them while using guilt by association and other propaganda against all of your opposition.
The best documented case of this was COINTELPRO—but there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of these operations going on at any time around the world—used by all significant intelligence services—in both foreign and domestic settings.
These folks do not play fair. They do not play by the rules.
Interesting they would promote a guy with the last name of Rothschild to speak about sex trafficking.

I don’t have the statute handy, but recently read that it is a crime to bring minors to another country for sex, even if the other country has a lower age of consent.
