Virgina Satir was born 97 years ago on the 26th of June, 1916.
She was a brilliant psychotherapist, whose pioneering work in helping families heal, earned her the title "Mother of Family Therapy".
She wasn't a great poet, but her poem "I am me" is at least a little bit Whitmanesque to me. The first lines are:
"My declaration of self-esteem
I am me In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me Everything that comes out of me is authentically mine because I alone chose it ......."
How like Whitman is her capacity for vision that transcends the limits of the individual: “The family is a microcosm. By knowing how to heal the family, I know how to heal the world.” ?
Satir fully understood the reality that modern societies do not make life easy for their parents: “So much is asked of parents, and so little is given ......... Every word, facial expression, gesture, or action on the part of a parent gives the child some message about self-worth. It is sad that so many parents don’t realize what messages they are sending.”
Can western societies survive when westerners so openly trash the family foundations of our lives?

I may be wrong, but I have come to the conclusion that the democrats attacked the black families with the “Great Society” to destroy their families in order to gain more control over black society, and society in general.
Now they are going after white families joining with the LGBT factions, and especially the trans-cult to further the government’s power.

He didn’t even get the date of death right. She died on September 10th, 1988.
