GOP-Agriculture Commissioner Got -— 821k VOTES
GOP Governor - ONLY GOT -— 704k VOTES and the DEMOCRAT WON with 708k VOTES

So we are to be believe the freekin Agriculture commissioner got 112,000 more votes then the guy who won the Governor’s race. Come on. The abortion machine rigged this no doubt.

However, I don’t recall a single peep from them when Maryland and Massachusetts elected republican governors. No “well DNC is in trouble” or anything. Frustrating!!!!!

It is, New Jersey GOP picked up a state senate seat and possibly up to 4 lower house seats as well, not a word about the democrats going down in flames.

NJ GOP reclaiming the NJ suburbs is a good thing and is showing a turn around for the battered NJ GOP.

NJ Dems lose their super majority in the lower house

I doubt it.

Unfortunately my precinct has turned liberal over the years. Voting was very heavy there, and I doubt it represented a wave of support for Bevin.

ID is required and you have to sign off ona voter registration roll.

Bevin was perceived as militantly anti union in a pro union state.

Anyway, the Commonwealth will survive this. It couldn’t be as bad as two terms of the evil moron Jones.

Keep in mind that the R’s that voted against Bevin did not use the straight R button. For the first time, I DID use it, for obvious reasons.

Almost impossible to prove & people do split their tickets. Right now the only non-speculative evidence that exists says Bevin lost - was out voted. Someone made a statement that Bevin was unpopular, I want to know why? Maybe its not true however I have now seen it several times in regard to this election.

"Curious as an outsider what was it specifically that Bevin did to tick so many people off - as you put it ‘goring their ox’."

Bevin had the audacity to make an effort to put the state employee pension funds on a more sound fiscal footing. I guess state employees and teachers did not want to put their own skin into the retirement game. Throw in Bevin's acerbic personality, and you have a failed campaign.

I’ve done the same thing on local elections. I know a lot of the local candidates and there’s more than one “R” that I wouldn’t piss on if he were on fire, so I just don’t cast a vote in those cases.

He took on the teachers union and the teachers union won.

Kentucky teachers are not viewed as overpaid grifters here. They are perceived as hard-working civil employees going against impossible odds.

Bevin was deeply unpopular with anyone at all connected to education, and that is a lot of people.

The silver lining is this: in my opinion 4 more years of Bevin may have caused the legislator here to flip. My district lost very capable Republican legislators because Bevin “hates our children and teachers”. All the Dems had to do was promise support for the public legislators.

I’m no politico, and I’d be interested in what other locals think.

Just my opinion, but having that “straight Party button” makes the Electorate lazy and uninvolved, which I’m sure is the point.

I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that the original idea came from the Democrats, not the Republicans.

No need to educate their Voters, just tell them to press D and all their dreams will come true. Quick and easy. Spend ten seconds in the Voting Booth and it’s back to living off the Gubmint.

I meant to say that all the Dems had to do is promise support to the public educators.

Ticket splitting would not explain why an Agriculture Commissioner would get more votes then the winner of the Governors race by over 100,000 votes. How many people can even name the AG Commissioner?

I wouldn’t go that far. We saw the same thing in Kansas with a very unpopular governor. If look Bevins out performed his poll numbers by far. Seeing the rest of the Republicans do so well is more a case of a high profile position that was very unpopular that was voted out, but for Republicans positive for 2020 with as well as rest of state R’s did.

Was Bevin a vocal Trump supporter?

The people of Kentucky paid Andy Beshear for four years, as Attorney General, to obstruct, through the courts, everything that Gov. Matt Bevin tried to do. It’s obvious that an awful lot of votes for Beshear were simply votes against Bevin. I encouraged those who said they were going to vote for Beshear because they didn’t like Bevin to not cast a vote for Governor at all. I think a lot of people have the mindset that they must vote for some candidate even if they don’t like any of their choices. That often leads to an undesirable result.

This was a Democrat “test” of vote fraud methods. Practice for 2020. Agree with poster above who says fraud is the most important factor in 2020.
