Jail time for a butt slap seems like a bridge too far. Maybe he’s got dementia or something.
A year in jail may be a bit extreme, but this action just cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.
Not a good idea these days no matter how innocuous the intention. Doubt he’ll get any real time unless he has priors. Probation and community service with mandatory counseling is more appropriate.
What a complete idiot! What possesses people to do stuff like this? Was he drunk? He’s going to be spending a ton on attorney fees, may lose his marriage, and could well spend time in prison. He should have just ordered a patty melt and shut up. The waitress should have clocked him.

I believe a conviction would carry with it a lifetime designation as a sex offender, and having to register periodicaly and every time they moved. Big jail time for failing to do so. Helluva way to spend one’s retirement.
My immediate thought when I saw the headline was, “How drunk or old was he?”
There was a time when this behavior was common and women were expected to take it. That was gone sometime in the ‘70s, however, and 50 years later any such perp knows that what he is doing is unacceptable.

I think it’s horrible that this article would assume the waitperson is a woman.
If that waitress was my daughter (and I've got two), I'd be the one going to jail.

Locke was charged with forcible touching, a Class A misdemeanor punishable with up to a year in jail or three years’ probation.
