Mattis-Bolton accord can sway Trump to dump PLO for Jordan President Trump’s possible call for Jordan to replace the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) as Israel’s negotiating partner under Trump’s soon-to-be-released “ultimate deal” will be considerably strengthened if Trump’s newly-appointed National Security Adviser - John Bolton - and Secretary of Defense - James “Mad Dog” Mattis - concur on such a move.

Let’s pretend for a moment that Trump negotiates a brilliant deal that brings about peace between Israel and the Palestinian territories. Terrorist attacks end and free travel takes place between Israel and the former territories. A symbiosis develops where both profit from the arrangement. Now, does anybody think Trump’s achievement would be honored? Would he, for example, get a Nobel Peace prize?

Why is the PLO involved in ANY negotiations? They are just a terrorist group.
They are the Arabs that the Jordanians did not even want in their own country- so they kicked them out, and they went on to try to claim Israel.
Israel would be at peace if not for the constant PLO turmoil.

Agreed; Bolton is a no-bullshitter when it comes to foreign relations - we have needed to be blunt and do away with the appeasement method for decades.
It IS President Trumps call insomuch as Israel looks to the U.S. leadership in moderating these talks, so in general Israel will go along with the U.S. plan.

Questions: 1) Has Jordan shown interest in taking on this role? King Hussein got tired of assassination and take-over attempts and expelled the PLO in September 1970, after which the Black September faction murdered Jordan’s Prime Minister, then 11 Israeli athletes, et al. I would think that Jordan would not want another dance with this tar baby.
2) Would “Palestinians” accept Jordan as their ruler and representative? I can’t imagine that they would.
Israel and the US might be pleased to give Jordan all the Palestinian territories, along with responsibility for controlling it. Are we trying to scare the Palestinians or the Jordanians?
