The DUI arrests, increase in college users, youth consumption, marijuana-related hospitalizations, and increasing emergency room visits of Washington and Colorado will only be amplified in California.

Yup. Same as when we got rid of Prohibition. The country's been going down the tubes ever since....

I’m a volunteer firefighter in a semi-rural area in NE PA. Some years ago we were called out for a structure fire. Turns out it was at the home of a local physician. The fire was in his son’s bedroom, mattress fire. A seed in his weed popped and the amber set the bed on fire. There was a collection of bongs on top of the dresser.

Abusers of anything aren’t the problem, the problem is the state committing the productive classes sweat equity to coddle and care for them when their life decisions come home to roost. If the productive class had free reign to defend themselves and allocate the vast majority of their resources as they see fit this would be a self correcting problem (along with most everything else deemed problems by the state).

I get the libertarian argument against criminalizing pot. Just don’t anyone kid yourself that you can build a republic with potheads for your citizenry.
>

I don’t recall many, if ANY, (L) argue vs. personal responsibility; much like smoking, drinking, etc.

(L) have also been consistent vs. States’ Rights; whereas many (R)\(C) are just as happy to violate the Constitution for their own ‘issue du jour’.

IMO, the only reason in the uptick of legalization is govt’s fingers into the tax $$ cow, to further enable their Socialist (anti-Rights) programs and leanings. Correct the latter and see what happens (2 birds 1 stone, no?).

The other thing is that pot and hash use are very big with Muslims. While Mad Mo forbade alcohol (probably because of its sacramental use in the Christian churches of the time), he didn’t say anything about hash, qat or any of the other drugs used by people in the ME and Africa to stupify themselves. Most of the ISIS attackers are stoned or even on meth at the time, btw.

Actually, the drugs are used almost entirely by men, because somebody’s got to do the work and get food on the table, and women (the “mule of Africa”) do most of the work.

I see the legalization of pot (and potentially, all other drugs) as a way to get Americans to be as dumb and spaced out and ripe for the picking as the stoners of Islam.

Only thing worse than smoking Mexican dirt weed is setting your house on fire with Mexican dirt weed.

I’ve never met any pot smoker who wasn’t an idiot and exceptionally flatulent.

I can only guess it’s all linked.

Not necessarily a correlation. Could just be Obamavilles.

That's been my experience with beer drinkers also.

Socialists know that the easiest and sneakiest way to destroy a country is to destroy its children through drugs.

what a bunch of hooey. Propaganda scare tactics. The people I know in their 80’s and 90’s who have used it since young are still highly intelligent, responsible, successful, caring people. The use of it does not reduce one to a drooling idiot.

I’m on the fence about making pot legal, but lean toward not. I do think the penalties for possession should be greatly reduced. Perhaps get a written ticket and pay a fine for under an ounce.

With the legalization in CA starting yesterday, there was a news interview on the radio where the guest ‘expert’ was suggesting new users not to immediately toke and drive, but rather wait a few years so that their systems would acclimate to the THC. I could not believe it was actual encouragement of the use of drugs while behind the wheel, claiming someone with 10 years of smoking could ‘handle it’.

That is nuts. Of course, 10MPH is about as fast as anyone can go on a California Freeway.
