Is Jeff Sessions being blackmailed?
American Thinker ^ | Dec 10, 2017 | Robert Avray

Let's begin with some accusations. They are well founded and as credible as any against Roy Moore – perhaps more so. The FBI's first director, J. Edgar Hoover, was reputed to have compiled incriminating dossiers on just about every top office-holder in Washington, D.C., up to and including the presidents, under several of whose tenures Hoover served. Whenever there was talk of firing him, Hoover reportedly met with the contemporary chief of state and persuaded him to retain him (Hoover) in his post. Regarding President Kennedy, there was surely a great deal in the dossier, especially as concerned his scandalous relationship with Marilyn Monroe. Kennedy, who had been rumored to be planning to replace Hoover, quickly changed his mind after one of those meetings. So much for the accusations. Let's talk current events. Jeff Sessions, as senator, had a long history of being a staunch conservative.

Trump is the Art of the Deal 24/7. According to those principles, you put off making enemies until all hope of making allies is gone.

Trump needs the same people who are hellbent on keeping Sessions in place to cooperate on any and all legislation he wants passed—not to mention the plethora of confirmations the Senate holds in its power. If Trump alienates and antagonizes a swamp that already hates him, he’ll face a hopeless quagmire for the foreseeable future.

As a result, Trump is playing a long game. He periodically undermines Sessions while schmoozing Congress. The time will come when Trump will be able to force Sessions out. It’s just going to take longer than we’d like.

I agree. He acts like Huckleberry Hound. I only hope that, like Huckleberry Hound, he comes out on top in the last scene.

Disclaimer: some may be too young to get the Huckleberry Hound imagery.

Good point. I’d have to agree.

I suggest firing Jeff Sessions over the Holiday recess and make a recess appointment of John Bolton. The first act of Bolton should be to fire Deputy Atty Gen Rosenthal.

While Trump has criticized Sessions, he did not make the statement you quoted.

His life and his family are in danger. Is there any way to circumvent this?

Agree as far as it goes, but does Sessions not also get animated when speaking about cracking down on marijuana and/or increased civil asset seizures?

Agreed, he's like a weird, sad, admixture of the dwarves, Sleepy and Dopey, with a portion of Barney Fife thrown in.

“Agree as far as it goes, but does Sessions not also get animated when speaking about cracking down on marijuana and/or increased civil asset seizures?”

Thanks for the laugh. I noticed the first time he testified before a Congressional committee, he gave a very careful analysis of why he could NOT be charged with colluding with the Russians and he must have been unable to figure out it also was a careful analysis of why he should NOT have recused himself.

I’m still clinging to the hope Sleepy Jeff Sessions is hard at work behind the scenes building strong cases to indict the hydra heads who dwell in the swamp.

That seems like the way Trump would operate...

Hold the cards until he can get the most effective results...

Drop the hammer right before the 2018 midterms...

“Irrelevant, as Sessions serves at the pleasure of the President.”

OMG. What a stupid statement. Sessions serves at the pleasure of the crooked Congressmen who have publicly stated will impeach Trump if he fires Sessions.

Apparently, for the foreseeable future, every article posted on a “conservative” website by a “conservative” writer will include a slam of Roy Moore as well as a slam of Donald Trump.

So glad I’ve kept my subscription money in my pockets.

I am chill. I am still in a wait and see mode on Sessions. He is reportedly making lots of progress, just not on the things over which FReepers are the most inflamed.

The swamp was not made in a day, nor can it be drained overnight...

Agree! Sessions is hopelessly weak. The Senate is the last place that will ever breed profiles in courage. When it comes to leadership, the search needs to center elsewhere.
