Salon’s Top 'Conservative’ List Is Nearly All 'Never Trump' Liberals Who Hate the Right

Over the weekend, liberal online magazine Salon put out a highly mockable list of their top “25 Conservatives Actually Worth Following on Twitter.” The story made a splash on social media, because it seemed Salon’s only criteria for being a “worthy conservative” is that you had to be an outspoken “Never-Trumper” and a fierce critic of the right. Brownie points if you support Obamacare and spew profanities at the president.
What didn’t count? Actually being a smart, thoughtful commentator on conservative ideas and a warrior against the liberal media. Salon’s list is so out-of-touch from what a conservative is, that they even include virulently anti-conservative commentators like CNN’s Ana Navarro and the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin.
Taylor Link, assistant editor for Salon, introduced his article touting it would help liberals “get out of their bubble” if they followed these 25 “conservatives.” To make things more palatable, Link notes, these conservatives “not only dislike President Trump” but also were “ideologically introspective” (which seems to be a euphemism for, “they attack their own side.”)
Link began his list by recommending several anonymous Twitter accounts that used pseudonyms, as examples of conservative warriors. Keyboard conservatives who are so courageous they can’t even use their real names, apparently. Of one user called “Brandt/ @UrbanAchievr,” Link glowingly notes, he frequently goes after his “fellow” conservatives:
Beyond his condemnations of The Federalist, Brandt takes shots at his fellow conservatives, especially those who do not apply their beliefs uniformly.
...and “isn’t afraid” to call the President, a “fascist.” How brave!
Of another user called “Atticus Goldfinch/ @AtticusGF,” Link notes, he “goes after the real virus pervading right-wing politics....conservative media,”

They're tolerated and promoted because they offer not serious objections or challenges to the liberal consensus. They may think taxes should be a bit lower than what Obama wanted, or that we should have sent troops to support the "Arab Spring," but on the fundamental issues they are on the same pages as their liberal friends. That is why when true challengers to the liberal consensus come along, these "conservatives" repeat the same rhetoric as their liberal friends and promoters. Hence the Never Trumpers.

What they all have in common is their support for open borders/amnesty.
The Cheap Labor Express has no intention of letting Trump shut them down.
Those are the “nice” ones.
Commitment to open borders and amnesty seems to be THE litmus test for respectability in the eyes of the liberal establishment and the mainstream media. Almost any other issue is negotiable, but if you discuss immigration in terms of anything other than liberalizing existing laws and granting amnesty to illegals, you're tarred as an "extremist."
I’ve said it before- the ONLY people to run as proud conservatives are lying liberals who are pretending to be conservative to win.
They know the people want conservatism.
The real conservatives have (in the past) been too afraid of the media to risk it. Trump is changing this.
That is how you know whether you have a real conservative or not:
1) If they proudly talk about their conservative ideals and the media gushes all over them- you know you’ve got a liberal.
2) If they even have any hint of being a real conservative the media with attack them with “Do you ADMIT that YOU ARE AN EVIL CONSERVAITVE???”
How can Mennifer Rubin call herself a conservative? What even IS a conservative if she is considered one?!!!
If you can call the president a fascist and not have the secret police arrest you in the dead of night, then the president isn't a fascist.
I call her Jebbifer Rubin, after her heartthrob Yeb!
Now, now, don’t go and use logic......
Frum was even calling for purges in the "conservative movment."
But all that is forgiven because they hate Trump.
Salon's favorite "conservatives," the anonymous Atticus Goldfinch and Kilgore Trout go after Ben Shapiro with meat cleavers.
They aren't friends and Shapiro isn't one of Salon's favorites.
Kat Timpf is though, but I can't imagine her being happy about that.

I never heard of "Atticus Goldfinch" until today.
The first word on his profile is "ex-conservative," which would sort of disqualify him for this ... uh ... honor.
And all he and Trout do is tweet.
How much can you really say in 140 (or even 280) characters, anyway?
Shapiro was a NeverTrumper and a supporter of the Gang of Eight's amnesty deal. If "Atticus Goldfinch" and "Kilgore Trout" don't like him, it's just a matter of internal rivalry over which neocon RINO gets to wear the crown of liberal elite approval.
