It must be getting closer to Advent. Dan Brown of “Da Vinci Code” FICTION fame is back.
Harvard “symbology” professor Robert Langdon, the protagonist of “The Da Vinci Code”, a work of fiction that questioned the history of Christianity, is back in Brown’s newly published novel, ‘Origin’, this time pushing the meme: “Our need for that exterior god, that sits up there and judges us ... will diminish and eventually disappear.”

My worthless brother-in-law (If you know him he probably owes you money) bought it hook, line and sinker. He gets all his info from History and Discovery channel TV shows.

You use the word “imminent” but I don’t think you know what it means.
The world has always been insane. If insanity was the cause, we should have been wiped out in the Middle Ages. Even the church was corrupted.

I don’t mind fiction but I have a serious problem with those who (left or right) do not know the difference for whatever reason.

I was never a proponent of that theory. So you tell me - what happened?

So you weren't a proponent of that theory. Several folks on this forum were ... big time. Proponents of other, similar theories should take note.
They use the excuse that it was fiction, but the liberal mind has a hard time separating fact and fiction.
Many people actually believed the things in the story as fact, and that was the original intention.
I know exactly what it means. It’s been imminent since Christ ascended. If people wanted to use a true time marker on how close we are, then I suggest you use the re-establishment of the nation of Israel. We’re almost 70 years since it’s been re-established.
The “church” is a loose meaning. If you include the Roman Catholic Church and various other persecuting Protestant sects, then yes I’d agree it’s been corrupted. Probably always has been.
The Lord has always had His own remnant for Himself that is not corrupt. Mankind has confused it’s organization, and nobody can define the real church under one umbrella organization that is man-made.
Well we’re in the season regardless of where you stand on the issue of His Return.
Date-Setting aside (which I don’t condone), it could be today, next month, or 10 years from now.
And to put it in even clearer perspective of how close we are, if we are here 10 years from now at the current rate of technological advances, we would effectively eclipse the technology of what Revelation describes. In other words, it’s got to be pretty soon. Naysayers should take note.

I am surprised how many financially successful authors are considered to be bad writers.
It’s not about date setting. It’s about warning folks that a major cataclysmic crisis is coming. Nobody knows when that date will get here - and if they claim they do, then they’re in grave error (as has been pointed out up-thread).
I say this in love and don’t want you to be deceived into thinking that this world is just going to keep on and on as it always has.

Why would God destroy mankind, who HE created? More importantly, why would God kill his greatest gift to mankind during the process and that is the newborn child?
I don’t think there was a remnant until the church discovered Grace. I think we are now living in the Enlightened Age of Christianity. The end will come when the One World Government decides to completely eliminate the Word of God. It will be wiped off the Earth in a “Book of Eli” type deal.
That’s why in the Book of Revelation, no one seems to know what is happening. There is no Book of Revelation anymore. So we have plenty of time to teach and preach but we must protect the Sword of Truth.
How does one *disappear God* or anything else for that matter?
I hate the way some people mangle English.
