Leftist slant but informative. We had our opportunities with Ho Chi Min but it would have meant quitting on the French. Russian/Chinese expansion as well as the development of nuclear weapons may have handcuffed us. Dividing the country was was made to look like Korea redux-probably true. A complete misunderstanding of what's going on in other cultures. 57k lost lives later we haven't learned our lesson in the mid-east. Ken Burns gave us the 'well intended' bone.
I watch no shows, movies, documentaries about Vietnam...
I don’t need to...Saw it firsthand...
We played this game last night right after it was broadcast the first time. You might find the comments there informative...or not - YMMV...

But once-classified documents and tapes released in the past several years, combined with previously uncovered facts, make clear that high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.<<<
WOW....Kinda like Pearl Harbor??
LOL
that was my first thought after reading the headline...
professor turgeson...
I thought it was pretty fair actually.
“Good teacher, he really seems to care.....about what I have no idea.”
rest assured- the few snippets i saw him show of JFK made JFK look like a god-hero...
Senator JFK took a trip to vietnam and refused to believe the state department details rather listened to and believed the info fed to him by a reporter about what was happening in vietnam...
JFK asked aloud how can America stand with the colonialist french when America was founded on the fight against colonialism...JFK was viewed as a god in what i saw last night...
Watched some of it...
I was 13 when it ended so I never learned a whole lot about it.
Seems they were blaming the leader of South Vietnam for everything and glorifying Ho Chi Min and the “freedom fighters of the North who infiltrated and undermined in the south.
And they practiy made JFK out to be all-knowing, all-understanding of the whole situation. I’m surprised they didn’t add a halo to his pic every time they shows him.
And then add horns to that evil Nixon...
Was the leader of the south that bad?
if i watch anymore it will be interesting to see the light robert mcnamara/lbj are portrayed in versus Nixon...
he colluded with the french....
Granpa Dave: I agree. A lot of bouncing around. Kennedy’s early stance was interesting. A bit of a flip-flop before becoming POTUS. Truman ‘losing China’ didn’t help. You must adjust with the times. Ho Chi Min was the undisputed leader. A 3rd world country, most of the people probably didn’t care about the communism. Those pictures of the starving are pretty convincing. More bombs dropped than those in Europe/Japan? Gotta tell you our best and brightest really ph-—ed up. Military-aged congressional kids served? I think it was one. Al Gore didn’t count. Personal bodyguard while working in Saigon as a journalist.
The Civil War was very good, but I don’t watch any of his other documentaries because I know he’s a leftist.

Thanks, JFK and his bros were fornicating scum on this earth. The liberal mediots made them into wonderful Gods who made America and the world better.
Commie propaganda.
Might watch down the road, but have a feeling he'll keep somewhat non-partisan to get viewers, then dump a pro-dem./anti-rep./Trump stink bomb at the end.
RIP my brother-in-law, Ted/Vietnam Vet/1st Infantry Division...riding Harley's in Heaven(gone too soon bro).
I place Ken Burns just slightly this side of Mikel Moore.
Ditto!
oh..20 minutes in, they were all over the use of napalm....
“I like the way you think.”
LOL! I feel the same way about that hair.
