Think You Own Home? Well You Dont And Never Will!
Even if you think you own your home free and clear, you really dont own it at all. You lease it from the State and it sets the terms and conditions that allow you to occupy the house or sell it to another lessee. The State owns the house and land in perpetuity and you can not alter this arrangement.

Here we need permits to change some windows WTH. Windows I can do , but now have to get a permit, or get a permit to build a screen porch in the back where no one can see!!
Allodial title would be a great thing. Absolute ownership with no superior owner having any claim at all.
Try not paying your property taxes and find out how long you "own" the property ... 90 days, 120 days, 180 days???
Marxists hate private property. They want to take it from you. You only think you own it. You pay taxes, insurance and upkeep. You have the liability. You pay “property” taxes, which are nothing but a confiscation of your property, 3% a year, disguised under the name “Mill rate.”
The article doesn’t say anything new here that people don’t already know. There’s no way around the taxman. Yeah, you can rent but if you don’t think your landlord has baked his own tax burden into the rent he charges you, you are only fooling yourself.
Change them on the weekend when the city dicks are off. I did a roof that way once. No one knew the difference.
[insert usual eye roll here]
When i was a student in the 60’s, we were taught that the big difference between capitalism and communism was the private ownership of property. Ha! A distinction without a difference.
Where I live the county assessor raise taxes every year even if the property values decline
I not only owned it, I made a huge profit when I sold it.
The only home ownership that really matters is the Blood-bought home in Heaven, built with the loving nail-scarred hands of Jesus Himself.
In my locale, you need to get a permit to replace a plumbing fixture.
In my neck if thw woods, if you’ve fixed up your home really nicely, you can’t sell it because nobody wants to assume the soaring property taxes that come with the improvements. We’ve had a number of contractors in this year for bids and work, and every single one has talked us out of doing anything other than the bare minimum. Every single contractor.
The really sick part is that for about $5000 in taxes a town could take away a home worth $400k, sell it and the original owner gets none of the profit.
Did the screen porch, and other work, but still have windows to change and yes the plan is at the weekend, one window at a time
really!!!
The taxman is because we the people voted it upon ourselves...
School and road improvements historically were temporary in nature through out New England till the 1910 time frame...even the income tax in Massachusetts was temporary, then voted to be permanent not that long ago...if motivated, they can be voted away..
Agreed, especially when I see my taxes go to crap like a public transport they have done recent;y , but only costs the rider $1 since I help to pay for that crap I never use.
