A former Pepsi factory that sat vacant for a decade is being reincarnated as an indoor marijuana grow one of the largest in the pot-friendly state of Colorado.
Doyen Elements, a holding company that leases real estate properties out to legal cannabis companies, bought an old bottling plant in Pueblo County. Upon completion in 2019, the facility could potentially produce up to 70,000 pounds of marijuana flower a year.
According to a recent report in Forbes, the company is one of a growing number of real estate investment firms that are making money in legal weed without actually touching the plant.
Here's a sneak peak at the massive grow-op coming to Colorado in 2018.....

Back when I was a college student in Colorado in the early 1990s, my friends and I would pool our money and get 1/4 pound for $400. This was Mexican ditch weed, full of stems and seeds, but it did the job. Sell it for $35-$40 a quarter oz. and make a nice profit, enough smoke for free and buy more.
The hard part was all our friends that didn't want to buy any of our weed, but rather just come over and smoke what we had. Then they'd pull the cellophane wrapper off their pack of cigarettes, "Dude, could you spot me a nice bud for the road?"
Wonder if they’re going to replace the roof with some type of greenhouse material or if they’ll be building their own power plant. 104,000 square feet would require a lot of lights, not to mention refrigerated air to cool them all. Even if using state of the art LED’s it’s still gonna take enough electric to power a small town. Many (if not all) of the coal fired power plants in the 4 corners region are scheduled to be shut down very soon with no definite replacements even in the works yet.
It would be hilarious if they cover the roof in solar panels to power lights!
Another interesting aspect is how it is being distributed. Do you think all of the cannabis grown in Colorado or California is consumed in those states? Think again. The United States Postal Service is the preferred shipper of cannabis growers. UPS has the right to open any package that is suspicious. The US Government needs a warrant. And why arrest your customers when sales have been declining for decades? The problem they now face is employees being arrested for stealing packages.
I found this interesting seems adding CO2 made the environment much better for the plants, I guess weed is exempt from the global warming madness
“Pepsi used an air filtration system that sucked carbon dioxide out of the air. Thompson said the same technology can be used to inject CO2 in the grow rooms and feed the marijuana plants, improving yield up to 30%.”
And I'd only worry about them showing up drunk for work if they were a house painter!
It's probably more just that I'm old-fashioned, and in spite of pot being legal, it still seems wrong to me, no doubt growing up with all of the warnings against drug use, etc.

Abstract
This study finds evidence for 24-h carry-over effects of a moderate social dose of marijuana on a piloting task. In separate sessions, nine currently active pilots smoked one cigarette containing 20 mg of delta 9 THC and one Placebo cigarette. Using an aircraft simulator, pilots flew just before smoking, and 0.25, 4, 8, 24, and 48 h after smoking. Marijuana impaired performance at 0.25, 4, 8, and 24 h after smoking. While seven of the nine pilots showed some degree of impairment at 24 h after smoking, only one reported any awareness of the drug's effects. The results support our preliminary study and suggest that very complex human/machine performance can be impaired as long as 24 h after smoking a moderate social dose of marijuana, and that the user may be unaware of the drug's influence.

It’s odd how some conservatives turn into liberal busybodies when it comes to pot.
Something to be aware of, but the range of its relevance is limited.
In CA, it can be delivered to your door, like anything else nowadays.

I grew up near Trinidad (90 miles S of Pueblo). I can’t believe how much As changed during the past few years when I have gone back to visit.
Panhandlers are everywhere and now these dope growing houses are demanding access to Agricultural irrigation water from farmers who have these water rights for over 100 years.
Fricken California immigrants have ruined this beautiful state with their BS ideologies.

I always expected that if cannabis was ever decriminalized there would be a huge economic upswing in areas where it is legal to produce.
More winning, IMO.
New ‘Coke’ flavor...Pepsi..
All the pot products here in Houston appear to come from Colorado. It says so right on the label(s).
I used to love Colorado. Durango was my favorite. But legal pot has turned that place into a sewer. Who cares if pot is addictive. The fact that it turns people into blubbering, homeless, stinking trash is argument enough for outlawing it.
Durango? The old steam train? I was born in Denver but have never lived there.
United Cannabis Corp. (CNAB) Down a bit today, but still up 26% since last Thursday, and Maple Leaf Green World Inc. (MGWFF) up over 5% today alone, over 32% since my entry point on July 5th. Aurora Cannabis Inc. (ACBFF) is a stronger company with greater market cap that has posted 3% gains in the last 7 days. MCIG Inc. (MCIG) is another one that bears considering. Up 25% since the 10th but sinking a bit now. High risk, but...
The first legal pot shop in our town in Alaska opened yesterday. I went in just to check it out. Half a dozen customers, not a single one under 60 years old. One lady making a purchase had to be over 80.
