Progressivism has always been a quasi-religious faith, whose doctrines center on the perfectibility of man if only the educated classes (its very own priesthood) are able to command sufficient authority.
Marxism, too, is a faith, one that denigrates other religions as the “opiate of the people.”
Religions devolve into cults when they set themselves in opposition to the entire world outside their confines, and when they insist that their members hold unique insights and virtues, and so have a duty to shun and denigrate the “gentiles” (everyone else). Cult leaders understand that exposure to outsiders leads to a diminishment of commitment, and a decline of their own power.
The American progressive left has been on a glide path toward cult status for a long time, but the election of Donald Trump has accelerated the process considerably.

Liberals are not leftists. Liberals are the characters leftists use. They are 100% expendable, and you have to create them from the peoples in your world. But it’s f’ing EASY. Some can be swayed by money. Some can be swayed with tiny bits of power or adulation. Many can be converted by their deep fear of being mocked if they don’t believe what you want them to. At that point, they convince each other. Soon a good leftist will have an army of gullible, expendable characters, the liberals, to do their work.
So leftism is not a religion. The top players don’t have to believe anything. It’s a video game.

It’s an insecurity brought about by years of propaganda that is centered on every possible form of relativism which has ultimately undermined their own sense of self. They are afraid to declare anything to be true.

yes. i know some 28-30 year old guys who are still living with mama or an aunt ... one doesn’t work, another has a part time gig selling iphones so that’s fine but he should at his age get a regular job and find a place to live independently

It’s on both sides. Too many people defend and support parties. They are for their party first. Nobody holds the line anymore. A perfect example was President Bush. Medicare Part D, No child left behind, patriot act, etc. He should have been held in check from day one of his Presidency, yet he still got support from the GOP on those actions.
They have no intention of ever meeting you half way in any kind of negotiation or compromise.
Because understanding our Constitution and Natural Law is hard?
Because standing behind a fool is easier than standing on your own?
As soon as someone joins a group, any group, they are subject to making compromises.
