Don’t believe those who say they don’t. Start with Romans 8 and also I Corinthians 15. There are others, most notably Ecclesiastes.

I cannot imagine the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY or His Son JESUS THE CHRIST denying us HIS creation upon judgement day.
If there ain’t no DOGS in Heaven , I ain’t goin.

Well no matter how painful for us it is, they leave us for a better place.
GOD does not forget his best creation; yes, they do go to HEAVEN.
I just hope all my Boys and Girls who have gone before me will wait at the RAINBOW BRIDGE for me.
I can’t hardly wait to run through the tall grass and chase birds with them.

I keep expecting to hear toenails clicking on my tile floor, the doggie door flapping open and closed and yes, the slurping of water from the toilet bowl..

The little things that life with a pet we take for granted, along with little toys and stuff that we never notice until they're gone...........

So sorry for you Joe...........

1 Corinthians 2:9
That and more - beyond our comprehension and mental capacity a billion times over!

See you there!

Posting late, but I just wanted to let you know I think I know exactly how you feel. No beloved dog is ever "replaceable". And sometimes you have what I call a "heart dog"; one that is just really special. Seems like Ranger was that kind. It's never easy, and a home feels so empty and lonely without the clicking toenails and wagging butt greeting! I was so heartbroken when it was time for our first dog to go to Heaven (over 40 years ago), that we've always had two after that - one older one, and a younger "companion" one. We have a 13-year-old and a 3-year-old now. Our old boy came to us aged 3, when we had an 8-year-old, who first came to us when she was a yearling, and we had a 10-year-old, and etc....

It works for us, they have all been rescue dogs, and "one of a kind"...not all "heart dogs", but all loved and equally loving back, and deserving...like any family, we learn to love each other (we've adopted older dogs - trickier than puppies). I would not give up a moment's time with any of them, despite the pain on their passing, and the difficulties of caring for old dogs.

Some people are just meant to have dogs; you knew when it was time for Ranger to go home, you were loyal and faithful to each other until the end, and you will also know when it's time to "rescue" another pup into a loving home...he/she will be completely different, but that's the way it goes with dogs, and you won't regret it, once the time is right for you.

My sympathy on your loss, sending my best regards and kindest thoughts your way - 88

Wow, I could have been the one to write 100% of that post!

It’s not that I don’t care, Joe, I just don’t have much time these days.

I am a selfish coward, so while it was an accident that I ended up w/ my first pair of dogs, I found it softened the blow to have a ‘spare’ against the sorrowful day that the eldest passes. Plus they seem to do better w/ friendly competition; I make a point of having a smart guard-dog type plus an all-around family friendly doofus like a laborador. Hmmmmmmm, the current one is black, so mayhap I’ll drench a Koran in bacon grease to continue a fine legacy, LOL.

Your boy Ranger won the life’s lottery from the moment you came home w/ him. Couldn’t ask for a better life or death, seeing as that last bit is mandatory for all creatures, great or small.

Joe, I mourn w/ you & respect your decision to do w/out another. However... should you eventually be followed home by a new companion, please post about the little bugger so we, your friends, can share in your joy.

I got a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat when I read about your dear Ranger. We had to send a beloved pet over the Rainbow Bridge back about 15 years ago, and it still hurts. You have my sympathies for your loss.
