Univision anchor Jorge Ramos believes he has found the explanation for the recent drop in illegal border crossings reported by immigration officials: fear or what he calls the Trump effect. In an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN Thursday night, Ramos laid out his theory in detail.
Jorge, the massive drop in border apprehensions last month, the customs border protections says 40 percent, its down 40 percent, people trying to cross illegally. What do you make of that? Cooper asked. Is it possible that the tough talk on illegal immigration by Trump is working, that he deserves credit for that drop?
Let me just say that fear is stronger than any wall, Ramos responded. What we are seeing right now is the Trump effect. He continued:
These people calling their relatives and their friends, saying, dont come here, this is not the right moment. So I think it is possible. Really no one wants illegal immigration, not even undocumented immigrants. It is very risky for them. It is better to do it in a legal way.
And the other positive thing is that, I think, many Americans, many people who voted for Donald Trump, they have to understand that theres no invasion. No one is invading the United States. Mexicans arent invading the United States. The undocumented population has remained stable at about 11 million, for the last decade. So those are the positive things.
However, there is a down side, Ramos said. The negative is that this is the Trump effect, he explained. This is created because of the policies of fear and xenophobia and cruelty....

That’s the first time that I know for sure ol’ Whore-hay actually told the stratght-up truth.
Good. Saves money on the fence.
I forgot to add, my wife is from Mexico, and came here legally and her parents paid out of country tuition for her to go to the University of Texas. Today she is a proud American but loves and respects her roots in Mexico. She does not want illegals here.
Who knew, someone willing to enforce the laws would actually cause a deterrence effect...
So after California brainwashes everyone with propaganda, then you wonder why illegals are so brazen and willing to raise families on our welfare state.
As an interesting note, south of the border, a lot of the movement north is based on information and news. That is, if the news down there says border crossing is hard or likely to fail, the stream of illegals gets much smaller (a self fulfilling event).
Conversely, when the prospective invaders think it is easy, or that there are jobs and wealth available to them up north, or there is a time limit for crossing before a clampdown, the numbers of crossers jump.
However, once in the US, it takes a lot greater news push to persuade many to self-deport, either back to Mexico, or to Canada. But it does happen.
The correct term is ‘quemate’ beotch.
That’s the point moron.
Part of the brainwashing of the low information voter. Not only have they muddied the water about legal/illegal immigration but have also convinced far too many people that there is no legal way for people to come here to work, live, and/or become citizens. There has always been a legal way to do it but that does not fit the liberal agenda.
Some are already leaving. I am seeing vehicles with trailers loaded with household goods headed for Mexico. Some are seeing the writing on the wall. Not enough to get me excited yet, but it is a start.
All true. The biggest flood of illegals we get is every time our politicians start talking about amnesty...comprehensive immigration reform. They all pour in expecting to be made citizens.
well, gee, Jorge. I suppose you telling Americans they are already dead and so their country belongs to Mexico or anyone who wants to take it ("it's not yours it belongs to us") isn't fearful, xenophobic or cruel??
More winning!!!!
Hey Jorge, F you and your mexican invader buddies.
That depiction of Bigfoot always bothered me. The Patterson film had been out for 5-6 years by then, so I didn’t expect him to look like a big hairy white man.
Just holler "La migra, la migra!" into the restaurant kitchen door...
Barack Obama married him (bigfoot that is)
