Having a laser and flashlight on your pistol may be the thing to have and it does look highly cool.
Black Scout Survival is a collaboration of all things tactical and survival, goes over the practicality of mounting a laser or combined laser-flashlight on your pistol for home defense. So basically what it comes down to is for EDC (Every Day Carry) is not a practical thing, for a home defense it may be an invaluable tool to have.
Before spending time getting a laser, be sure to work on your basic marksman shooting with iron sights. Slapping a laser on it, looks nice but will not make you a better shooter. The advantage with a laser is that it can get you on target quickly.
Having a tactical flashlight is an added convenience so you don't have to use the "Chapman" method. Placing your finger on the mechanism is all it takes while holding your pistol on target. Lasers has a huge advantage of acquiring targets quickly. Flashlight can help you identify who is in front of you and prevent tragedies before making that choice to use deadly force. Do you all have flashlight and laser mounted on your pistol? See the footage here.
Sure I need a gun, dogs can be shot dead through a window. Then me and the MP% get to get into the game.

If you must know, I’m involved in a ministry that I lead. Leaving 50 kids in the lurch isn’t my idea of a good plan.
Again pal, it’s my life and you don’t get an opinion.
99% of intruders run away at the sound of a BIG dog bark.
I’ve had large capable dogs all of my adult life, but these two I have now are in a class of their own.
If they weren’t my dogs I’d be very nervous around them. But they’re good loyal soldiers for us.
We had a scope on our Ruger P89 until we found out its illegal and we had to take it off. :-)
The combo of dogs + guns = a great nights sleep.
Do you need one? NO. But it helps.
Again pal, its my life and you dont get an opinion.
I get an opinion, I don't get a vote.
A Corgi has all the bark you need. I also pulled mine out of a dog fight once and can verify that they have the bite strength required.
Red dot on center of mass removes uncertainty.
It depends on the likely demographic of your potential home invader. If they are drunks, a strobe light and air horn work great. Otherwise, a normal light so you can clearly identify your target, and maybe cost them some night vision at night.
Remember, do not “go hunting” for them. If you stay behind cover, you have much more advantage if they come to you. If others are there with you, locate and inform them immediately, so you do not have people walking into your firing line.
Illegal? Is that some sorta Georgia thing?
Laser: yes.
Light: maybe.
One’s vision generally decreases as one ages. As one who is aging, I have put Crimson Trace lasers on three of our pistols: 1 semi auto 9mm and two revolvers (357 and 38).
The laser highlights where the round is going to impact. Sort of point and click. And it should have a significant psychological advantage when opposing a miscreant, as long as the miscreant is not too far gone on drugs or booze.
The key to the laser is sighting it in at the range. Once completed, and checked from time to time, it should work when needed, as long as the batteries are kept up to date.
When in a rush, and when you have clearly identified the threat, point and click works well when a laser is used.
With many pistols the laser simply becomes part of the pistol grip, which is our case for the pistols listed, above. I really like Crimson Trace. And, no, I don’t work for them.
I like motion lights around the perimeter as well. My yard will light up from any angle of approach.
That said, I'm not sure anything but deadly force will be effective against the "home invasion" style of robberies happening today.
In most self defense situations all you’ll want to do is point and shoot. Lights and lasers are a distraction, and can delay action.
The only problem is the off switch. When I yell "friend" I wish they would stop barking immediatley. That doesn't happen.
A little confrontational today?
No one is trying to tell you how to live your life
No, the guy basically told me to move to Nevada. Implied that I don’t care about my family.
Sorry, I don’t need the self righteous lectures based on where I choose to live.
Sigh. First sentence in the article. No, it does not look highly cool, it makes your pistol look clunky and not good. Practicality is another matter.
